There was a huge gash on the ladder side and it was wavy, so it caused the outer rails to bend some. Not very happy...

Edit: where the gash was, you could push it and feel where the material had broken.

It sucks but what do you do.. Wait some more. I know it isn't Bobby's fault. But seems like a bunch of people have had shipping issues. I personally think the box needs to be more stout. Or some kind of padding around the tent since no one seems to read all the labels on the box that say "no forklifts" "handle with care"

I am sorry to hear about your tent.. I would agree on the better packaging but we have gone through this before in the first year of the gb with 23 damaged tents. We have done everything from putting heavier boxes to putting plywood all the way around them and putting them on pallets. The only problem is the forks still went through all of it. We have put bright colored labels on them so they would see them. (still does not work)There are good days and bad. We have had them on pallets and they do not show up on pallets. We have done all we could do so far. I wish I had a answer for the damage (outside of lazy ass people and forklifts). But I do not. I am truly sorry you get a tent and it is damaged and you have to wait more.
    Sincerely,

    Bobby

Like I said Bobby, nothing you could have done. When do you think I may get my replacement? I personally think the wait is worth the 30% off. Especially now that I see prices have went up on the tents.

Please, God, tell me you are just fucking around with us at this point, and that some tents will not ship to their buyers 4+ months after the order was placed.

Bobby, I'm sorry, but "inconvenience" is insulting at this point. An inconvenience is when you go to the store for milk and they are out, and you have to drive to the next store. I have lost several hundred $$ in non-refundable camping reservations (memorial day and 4th of July being the biggest), not to mention the immeasurable cost of having to look at my kids to make up some excuse they don't understand when I have to tell them we aren't going camping again.

I really hate being this negative in a public forum; I really do. I have done my best to be positive and/or keep my mouth shut when I couldn't. I have simply run out of patience and good will at this point.

Please. :censored: That he disagrees with you himself makes this all the more ridiculous of a statement.

I must have written, deleted, written and deleted this post a half dozen times. I should probably delete it again, but I'm going to leave it and just abandon the thread for a while before I say something worse at this point. :frusty:

Go buy a ground tent for 150 take your kids camping, then when you get the rtt sell the ground tent for 75. Problem solved.

Bobby cant do anything about containers that haven't arrived.

In no way did I say Bobby has not had a lack of communication. What I was getting at is considering the circumstances he has been on here way more than I thought he would be. Maybe I'm used to getting the short end of the stick on customer service, who knows. :notsure:

Either way you can always take a tent to go camping. I fully understand your frustration in the delay but I'm sure a tent would do just fine temporarily...

If Bobby doesn't have the tents from the containers to ship out I agree he can't ship, all the talk about what he has control over is probably a bit off mark.

    - in 15 years of international shipments my company I can't recall where we have had containers that are just delayed. Once it is in a container shipping is usually pretty clock work unless you have a really bad freight forwarder. THAT is something you have control over when you select them.
    - delays at customs for an item like tents doesn't happen
    - not having anticipated how many tents you might need or having the most popular models stocked up THAT is something you have control over.
    - honestly feels more like production was ordered after the group buy ended sorry but you know if you are running a group buy on multiple sites that you are gonna sell tents so I think having a better stock already in the works some of THAT most people would say you have some control over.
    - not having regular updates that are not constantly changing THAT is something to have control over.

Look I'm sure Bobby is a nice guy he was when I spoke with him as well but if you have your tent don't sit on here and make excuses for him when there clearly have been some issues not with Bobby but with how the business has transpired. It's all great to talk about how he was out humping the road delivering tents personally. BUT HONESTLY does this sound efficient?
NO. Let everyone pay shipping for their tent and Bobby be in the office on the phone with, Production company, Freight forwarders, Customers.

I'm waiting on my tent and I'll be happy in July, but right now I'm with Gravdggr and I'm not happy right now. AND no I didn't buy the tent for one trip but I have now postponed and cancelled a few trips.

TO all you people that say just buy a ground tent, WELL let's say you bought a plane ticket or a car or whatever means of transportation and it fell through, would you expect me to say well just get a bike it will get the job done temporarily. HELL NO you wouldn't. You paid for a service or item and that is what you would expect to have.

I can understand everyone's frustration but let's not get out of control with analogies.

Trying to bike 1000s of miles instead of using a car or plane is nowhere near the same as not having a RTT to go camping. Your analogy offers up a non-viable alternative.

Obviously no one was expecting these kinds of delays and was planning on having an RTT to use for the summer camping season but there are other viable alternatives to ensure you can still camp.

Like many said, buy a ground tent. Hell buy it from Costco and return it when you get your RTT. That way you incur no extra costs.

Is it the same as camping in an RTT? Of course not. But it offers up a very easy and viable solution so that you don't have to lose $$$ on campground reservations and navigate disappointed children... but most importantly it gets you outside as a family doing something fun.

I don't get why you'd just throw your hands up and blame the manufacturer for your "ruined" summer. You can still get out there.

But I do understand that it would be very frustrating to deal with such delays and it makes sense that from that frustration you may say or do things that you would not normally say/do.

Wanted to say Thank you to Cascadia Tents for the awesome deal on the tents! Getting upset about not receiving your tent doesn't make it arrive any sooner. Although I definitely understand. I hope all the animosity doesn't push another supplier away from doing a group buy on this forum. The amount ordered vs amount anticipated was pretty substantial.

The least we could do is cut Bobby a little slack. I'm sure he feels bad enough about not fulfilling the orders right away. If he could, it would have already been done.

Someone mentioned seems like he didn't order until after group buy...Cascadia isn't Costco or REI. That's a huge amount of money to risk your business on a hope. I wouldn't do it and wouldn't expect anyone else to either.

Side note, It was nice meeting you yesterday Bobby. It didn't rain on the way home.
