I gotta say after reading up on the camaro recall it sounds very petty. Really...your knee can bump the key while driving and turn it of. Every car if ever been in has column mounted ignitions, you have to be sitting in a very uncomfortable position to get your knee to bang into the key. Gm is under such scrutiny now they will issue a recall for any petty thing. "Gm is issuing a recall for all convertible models, after extensive testing the driver may get wet if driving in a rain storm with the top down". It would be super if toyota followed suit. Frames rusting away and shitty leaf springs i do believe are more serious then my knee hitting the key.

It might sound minuscule for something so minute but apparently it's a big deal. Toy can't seem to get the rotting frames under wrap, I will agree but look what they did with the first gens, they did okay by me.

    Oh FFS.

It isn't 'hitting the key'. It's the engine shutting off, the power steering locking up, the brake boost disappearing after one pump, *and not being able to turn the key back to on to unlock*.

That's a tad more serious than 'hitting your knee'. Why not call up the families and loved ones of the 15 or so people FUCKING DEAD RIGHT NOW and ask how serious the 'hitting your knee' defect is?

Heck, judging by the recalls toyota has been forced to make in the last few years apparently they can't make a reliable steering shaft, water pump or even floor mat (all recalls that we've had my wife's prius in for). So add in tacoma frame rust, vibrations and everything else... GM trucks may have their many issues, but why is it after a billion trucks have been made on this planet (and nearly a decade of 2nd gen tacomas) why can't toyota sell a truck with a smooth driveline? I say this only half jokingly, but you could go to Lowes today and buy a lawn tractor that has a more refined suspension than our trucks.

Some of you are hitting the Toyota kool-aid way too hard.

I like my truck because it fits very well with my needs, but that doesn't mean everything else is garbage, especially not when you are judging based on recalls... every car manufacturer has their fair share of recalls.

Well it was in the news a while back that GM got out of paying back 40 million of the bailout they recieved for what or why I have no idea. :notsure:This countries finances are crap. Keep giving other countries money to rebuild, troops for free protection that we pay for it's crazy.:annoyed::deadhorse:
Anyway, at least they are fixing their issues a million cars at a time.

That would be " With all due respect ."

They sold a little over 23,000 in 2013. Considering the nature of the car..it isn't really a great vehicle for alot of people. But I will give them some credit for pursuing the idea.

Completely disagree. The Challenger looks ok from the front and sides....looks like a box on wheels from the back..not a fan.

The Mustang is about the same...looks decent from the sides...the new headlights are in the same design concept as most of their other vehicles..and I don't care for it. And the back end looks pretty stupid to me angled toward the front. Great..it's better for aerodynamics..it's fugly.

And again...I disagree,at least partially. The bailout was to save what little was left of the economy. Between Ford,GM and Chrysler the unemployment numbers would have been phenominal. There are so many different types of industry that benefit from contracts with the Big 3. The fallout if they closed would be catastrophic. I do agree that the money wasn't really payed back.

While I sympathize with those who have lost loved ones in situations such as this, there is a lot more to it that we don't all know. I have to agree that having the key in a position where your knee could hit it is not a good design, but I know of several Fords I have driven where I HAVE actually hit the key with my knee and turned off the engine, more than once. So I had to reposition the seat where I couldn't do that. I don't see Ford getting gummed up on THEIR ignition switch problems. There is a TON of research and investigations going on, and you know as well as I do that every OTHER manufacturer will use any form or manner of generating bad press for their competition. Unless we are on the actual investigation staff, we probably won't know the FULL truth.

GM, Ford, and Dodge all use a power steering system to boost the BASE brake system on HD trucks. Why? Because a turbocharged diesel HAS no engine vacuum to run a vacuum boost system. Hence the need for that type of system for ALL of the HD manufacturers that has been in place, and working fine since the late 80s. Toyota uses the electric pump for the ABS system, NOT the base brake boost. The fault in the GM trucks has to do NOT with ABS, but with a hose issue in the power steering system that operates the boost. They still use electric pump motors on their ABS systems.
