Hey all. Moved here 6 months ago with my family. We have an 08 dclb. I wanted to ask a couple of things.

    1. Where do you get your eom parts from? Mainly oil filters, gaskets, and such. I plan on doing my own oil change in jul. I had a shop do it in January but they didn't put in a new gasket and I am noticing leaking on my undercarriage.

    2. Has anyone had issues with rust on the eom trailer hitch? I bought the truck used from a dealer in Florida and it was showing some rust but now it's to the point that I am planning on removing it before it causes damage to the mounts.

Any Servco Toyota dealers have the OEM oil filters and gaskets. If install a fumoto valve no need worry of leaking. I got an oil catch can installed in my truck check my build page got pictures there. Welcome to the islands.:D

I spray my hitch with the rustoleum rust converter stuff.. seems to work pretty good... Servco for oil filters (if you go OEM), and like a couple of guys, the fumoto valves (i have one sitting on my work bench.. just don't drive the truck too much so haven't needed to do the next change yet).

    Welcome..

    slacker! :D

I'll order some oem stuff online from camelback or trdparts4u, sometimes with shipping it comes out cheaper than local mark-up with tax.

So Amazon prime has one person selling 5 oil filters for 26 so I might just order those. What brand oil catch can do you use? I was looking at a moroso but it's so expensive. Was looking at eBay too and those are much cheaper.

I go to the dealer for OEM filters crush washers ect. Yes the factory hitch is rusting. Unfortunately the hitch is what holds the rear bumper on:(

I ended up just buying the filter and washer at servco too. I wish I could get a discount at servco. I will be switching to mobile 1. I always had the dealer do it before but going synthetic it seems more cost effective doing it myself. The hitch issue is annoying. I was thinking about putting an after market hitch on later. You ever look into that?

My truck did not come with the factory hitch but I did install an aftermarket one from here: http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/Toyota/Tacoma/2013/13323.html?vehicleid=20137326

feels really beefy and the powder coating seems to be pretty durable. I had bought it for my previous tacoma and transferred it to the truck I have now so it has been roughly 3 years. So far I have no issues as far as rusting. May be an option you can look into.

might as well clean and paint over the rust area, the bumper is attached to the oem hitch, which is attached to the frame. not as easy to remove vs adding an aftermarket one.

I'm glad to hear you say that. I've been looking at the exact same hitch on Amazon. it's $20 cheaper and free shipping with prime! Now I'm going to order it for sure.
