Sounds like something is seizing that axle. :notsure:

Wheel bearings seizing when they heat up?

Very entertaining Build thread though, I like your attitude. Sub'd

Hope you get it figured out.

Those dick cepek wheels are lug centric, maybe a cause if you don't have hub centering rings? Maybe brake dragging, or wheel bearing bad? Just some suggestions!

Also sense the lugs have already sheared check the diameter of the lug holes on the wheels, could have been affected

I think these together might be your problem cam. Remember when I said alloy wheels shouldn't be lug centric. I would get some of that hording treasure out of your truck bed if its still the way I remember it. lol

Also, did you make sure you fully seated those studs? Shit is crazy man, Hope you get this sorted out with out another tow bill.

I have had lug centric wheels for over 30k miles with no problems, regularly towing 6k lbs. I think the issue is over-torqued lugs, and the wheel being damaged as a result of the lugs sheering. It will cause them to shear over and over unless replaced.

A dragging brake is a good possibility. Extreme heat build up will cause the studs to fail.

No idea.. I know that we seated the studs pretty well and they didn't look crooked or anything, but it def sheared off again last night, luckily all of them didn't so i could roll(slowly on/off the tow truck).

:turtleride: i take it to a shop tomorrow after i replace the wheel studs.. AGAIN :going crazy:

.-. i just dont get why its only happening to just that one hub, i feel like the rest should be failing as well or maybe its just a matter of time.

The '82 is just chillin at my folks house as i pay it off and build my credit, not really trying to build it at this moment in life.

    I may switch wheels.

    :(

    :(

the hoarding treasure has been long organized lol. They were fully seated, my dad helped me seat them.

    :p

hmm... I guess i'll have to get those two potential issues looked at, how do i know the brake is dragging?

my stock steels are lug centric too, cams are aluminum alloy though. The aluminum is very prone to wollaring, I would say the driver side rear that we took off was wollard out too. I just didn't like how they mounted up on the truck, they were very thick and didn't leave as much room for the lug threads to bite. With those wheels I would just rather see a hub-centric mount like the stock alloys.

My wheels are alloy as well, I have had 2 different sets. They don't fall off.

Ever hear of ET (extended thread) lugnuts? You might want some. Be sure to properly torque them.

I couldn't have over torqued them this time because i did it by hand using a ratchet with a socket.

The studs when they sheared off last night were extremely hot to the touch. Whatever thats happening is generating a large amount of heat which could point at why they sheared off.

the heat is either from the brakes or the lugs wallowing around because your wheel is damaged. if its the brakes the whole drum would be pretty hot. they get hot enough to burn you without being messed up,

torque wrench is $20 at harbor freight. only way to know its right.

    Makes sense to me.

I'm no expert, but that kind of heat in that area is usually bearing related IIRC. You might contact Bill (BamaToy1997) and ask his advice? :notsure:

bearings would make sense too. i would think you would notice some bad noise maybe even vibration if that were the case.
