Northern BC - Prince George/Omineca

How many people are from around this area? As my truck gets more trail worthy, I'd really like to test it out with some other Tacoma's. See what works for people and maybe steal some ideas for my build.

 

I'm in Prince George. Truck is mostly stock - done a few upgrades here and there: tires, canopy, floormats, dog friendly backseat! Suspension is next on my list

I would love to know some people's favourite scenic/secret places to wheel and camp in the area. My wife and I love to explore.

What type of suspension are you looking at?

Just got back from Lordco, picked up a new Optima battery. First part of my dual battery/electrical upgrades.

 

Looking at an OME setup for later this year maybe. Something simple that will be better at bombing down logging roads, basically. The TRD suspension leaves alot to be desired.

What are you planning as far as your electrics are concerned?

 

Two Optima Yellowtops, the Sierra Expeditions IBS DBS system and upgraded alternator.

 

Is there seriously only the two of us? I know I've seen quite a few Tacomas driving around Prince George with some work done....

 

There are TONS of tacos around here. And yeah, lots with work done. Strange there aren't more of us.

 

I'm in PG running a stock DCSB - saving for an OME lift and debating between building sliders or buying them.

 

Up to three people!! What's your truck currently look like Outbound? Anything done to it yet?

 

Any ideas where the best place to buy a Warn winch is near us? Interior Offroad is a little out there with their prices, so I'm not too big of a fan there. I might just order from 4WheelParts but would prefer to buy local if there was somewhere reasonable.

 

It's a stock 2013 white DCSB with a black softopper on the back - you've probably seen it around town.

 

I don't think so. I'd remember a soft topper. I just moved back from Mackenzie about two months ago though, so that's probably why.

 

I think I've seen you around the Dairy Queen on 5th ave., Outbound. I thought long and hard about a soft topper myself, so I make a mental note whenever I see one!

 

Not sure about where to buy a Warn in PG other than Interior Offroad. Maybe if you got on the phone and did some phoning around a place could order one up for you? How bad are the prices at IO?

 

They're about $200 higher than anywhere online I've found. And I've found places with free shipping, so that is not a factor.

 

Yes, my wife and kids send me out to DQ reasonably frequently.

 

There is a Colorado in Mackenzie that had a soft topper. He was always parked at the Subway there. I always admired it when I drove by. They look sharp on a nice 4x4.

 

More than just sharp - they really work well! I have a canopy most of the time and when I need my box, ti drops in under 30 seconds. Love it - half the cost of a hard canopy

 

If it wasn't for my dogs, I'd have probably gone with the soft topper. My siberian husky is a bit of a mischevious bugger though, he'd make a break for it if I put him inside a soft top.

 

I'm originally from Fort St James. Lots of 1st gen taco's and trails in the north, hard to find anything resembling an organized group though.

I'll move back to the area someday, I miss the fishing.
