So my son and i go out for some Father, Son time.
And we're having a pretty good day.
So we decide to run through one more cove.
I'm flipping a worm with a 6'6" med action rod.
So I'm doing my thing and flip right along a downed tree limb.
I feel the twitch that i know is going to be a good one.
I set the hook. BAM IT'S HOOKED GOOD.
But, it's not moving. I feel the head shake and i give it another tug.
It won't move. This thing must weigh 50 pounds.
So i reposition the boat for another angle and keep pressure on him.
    HE WON"T MOVE!
So i move again and give him another good tug.
MY REEL BREAKS OFF THE ROD. WTF !!!!!!!!
so now I'm fighting a monster fish with a rod in one hand and a broken reel in the other.
My son is laughing, the boat is drifting cause it's windy, I'm yelling at the fish. So now i have to bring him in like a fly rod and strip him in.
So i take a chance and let the line slack for like 10 seconds.
wrap the line around the rod and hit him again.
Yes i got him moving. moving quite easy right now. Now I'm thinking he's going to see the boat and take off and slice my fingers off with my 12 pound test line.
My boy is still laughing, I'm still yelling.
He comes to the surface and i am amazed at the size of this fish.
I grab for him and expertly nab his lip and yank him into the boat.
I cant believe it. I got him.

    OH
    AHHH
He was wrapped around a log
The fish was 2 1/2 pounds
And the reel was 20 years old.
Don't you love great fishing stories. :rimshot::woot:

    ; !!!!!!!
It could have been worse if the line broke, and "THE BIG ONE" got away.
You could only assume that it was the biggest bass you ever had hooked, since it broke the reel and all!
Good story Mike ; enjoyed reading that.

    Lights look good Jim.

    Good Morning Ken.

Glad your still getting in plenty relaxation Tom. ;)

    Good Morning. :)

Aahhh ... Any leftovers? Seems to me lasagna is one of those foods that almost gets better when it ages in the fridge a little. :hungry:

Have a great day Ken! :)

    WBO

Great job on the DTRL. That is a lot of light and it fills that space well with a cool visual effect.

I need to get a quick shower and head into Anchorage with the Highlander. Having the Digi-Shield rock chip/scratch preventer stuff applied today.

If I time it right and get ahead of the first wave of commuters, I might be able to drop by my favorite little diner in Anchorage for a quick bite. :hungry: It's the kind of little joint the truckers eat at where the food is awesome, none of the coffee cups match, and the waitress has attitude. Always fun. :D

Have a great day folks! :)

Coffee sounds like a great idea, Tom. Smoking some Kings this morning. The in-laws land in a little over 10 hrs.
