    No kidding!

Judging from the number of spiderwebs around my house, it's not hard to gather. :D

Outside, yes. I've had to clean the rain gauge a couple of times this year (not that it's raining a whole lot). The cups on the anemometer are full of web too. It seems like it's everywhere at times-from the orange tree down to the grass too. All over the place.

I've got to leave the dog home once and a while.

While I was walking him this morning, I watched two redtail hawks get chased off by several crows. Just amazing-about 5 minutes worth of this-had I had my camera...

    Welcome
I see them a lot around here. They break open pine cones and eat the seed or pine nut out of them. Sometimes they bury the nuts and forget where they left them and voila! A new pine tree starts growing  Been in the news alot because they rely heavily on the whitebark pines which are ravaged by the pine beetles and blister rust. They're a really slow growing tree so whole forests are dying and not regrowing :(

Hey Ben ,im gonna say that the pic with the 4 sparrow-looking birds are dickcissels. This photo i took in april, they seem to kinda match up with the black on the breast. What do u think?

Saw/heard lots of new birds on my trip this weekend...at least 8 that I have yet to identify. Will post pics at some point... :playball: They're still downloading now.
Got woken up saturday morning by a bird that sounded like a car alarm...would have thrown a rock at him if he would have held still long enough. Not fun to be awake at 5 am by "WEET, WEET, WEET, WOO, WOO, WOO, CHEE, CHEE, CHEE..."

My mom and I are looking through our bird books, haven't figured that sparrow-looking bird, yet, but we're thinking they're not dickcissels because they aren't supposed to be in the Puget Sound area and Ben's are much more streaky and have that black chest spot and the facial and wing markings don't quite match. We're wondering if they're juvie Cassin's or Purple finches, but the bills on Ben's are so much heftier!
    Hmmm...
    Any more pictures, per chance?

Can't figure out what these three are - all spotted in south central MT and north central WY

Blue/back wings, white chest, pretty small about hte size of a sparrow
    [IMG]
Tiny bird - maybe a little bigger than a bummingbird. Bownish grey wings/back with yellowish belly
    [IMG]
Another little guy, fast too. Tan body with a little yellow/olive on the chest, Black and white stripe on the wings

    Nice ones!
That first one is a lazuli bunting, the second is definitely an Empidonax flycatcher, most likely a Willow flycatcher, and the third is a ruby-crowned kinglet.
Good stuff, Lisa! Thanks for the bird questions :p I haven't been getting out to bird very much recently. I did get a common yellowthroat out at my sister's barn last night, which was the first one I've observed this year, so that was cool! I'm at 135 species this year now.
Ben I'm assuming you broke 100 now?

Well if that guy is a Lazuli then what is this guy? Because they're both very different blues - the first one more of a dark navy and this guy was a bright cyan color. Or can they vary that much?
And I'll look up the other two - thanks! EDIT: checked on the other two and the pics/description I'm seeing online does seem to match up with my sightings

The 2 baby Rufous Hummingbirds are getting so big mom can barely sit on the nest

I watched her feed them today from about 30' away with some binos , it was pretty cool
