You guys know I'm an audio freak.....but in my garage I have a pair of 15 year old computer speakers that JAM. Sound quality isn't terrible and for $40 15 years ago they still rock my face off.

For the price, there's NOTHING better than computer speakers for the garage. PLENTY of power and the 2.1 systems are usually pretty cheap.

Don't have it wired up yet, but I have an older Yamaha receiver. Thing blasts although I forget the power output off my head.

I got a JBL Charge for Christmas, so I use that when I'm in the garage. I place it high enough on the shelf so it doesn't get dust/dirt all over it. I've used it while cutting wood and haven't had any issues. Plays pretty dang loud and sounds good. Also small enough to take with us to the pool or the beach. It gets a lot of use.

Yep, that's exactly what I do. Anything with a headphone jack will make it happy. It could even be a bluetooth dongle receiver that you pair your phone to so you can still keep the phone in your pocket....depending on how BIG your garage is. :D

My garage radio's not a portable unit. It's a 20-year old Panasonic home stereo unit with 6 speakers scattered around (2 in the workshop and 4 in the garage). Sound quality's not as sharp as it used to be, but half the time I'm wearing earplugs out there anyway because I'm running power tools so it doesn't really matter anyhow.

A Kenwood single din radio I took out of my truck, a battery charger, and a 6 by 9 in a ply wood box with a toilet paper role port. It actuality sounds damn good.

Build your own. Just finished mine up in time for the weekend. runs on 3 7AH batteries. used two fully waterproof Infinity speakers, a Lepai amp/controller, and a bluetooth reciever. Unit is fully waterproof, can be controlled by pluging an ipod/phone directly into the amp, or via bluetooth, and has a great runtime. had it on for 6 hours yesterday at a fairly high volume, and it's nowhere near needing a re-charge.

would be great for a garage since it's so portable, and it'll take a beating.

used it out tubing the river yesterday. it actually fell off of the cooler on the left once, right into the water. worked like a charm. if it can take that, it'll survive garage use.

I've had it for over a year, no issues so far. Fully charged the battery will last a long time and that's with it charging my phone a couple times. It's a travel handle and wheels, so I've wheeled it up and down steps and bumps without any hiccups. If it dies while you're out camping or tailgating, the 110 outlet in iur trucks will power it just fine.

that's sweet. a friend of mine did something similar to a large fishing cooler. added wheels to it so we could pull it on the sand.

yeah, coolers seem to be a popular way to go.

i went with the waterproof box because i didn't need space for a sub, that a cooler would offer, and then for my application, i needed something fully waterproof. you're right, wheels and a handle would be great for the beach though.

about $200. if you go with a lower end waterproof speaker, and skip the bluetooth part, you could get it down the abotu $150. I had most of the wireing, and the silicone laying around already though, so account for the little things. few $5 purchases here and there can really add up.

it's a great time. Comal river in New Braunfels, Tx. beautiful water, flows nicely, and even has some fun chutes that float you down around the waterfalls.

I can't tell if mine is older or newer than this one. Mine has all those features, plus a record player on top. Mine also had a power button.
