What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

The wrap around protection is awesome. Is it a demello or 4xInovations?

 

Where is this? Makes me miss the mountains of the west.

 

And you don't have to remove the lower panel and e-brake cable stuff.

 

I have to agree with lotsoftoys on this and I have only done a few dozen. There is way more to it if it's an ABS rear than what one might think, that is if you want to do it right. There are many threads to be found on the subject. Forget the ones with "coffee" in em.

 

non abs so hopefully this will be easier. and just so were all on the same page, ill be calling the dealer in the AM to see if they have wheel bearings in stock and also see if they will do the shop work for me. im not sure if my friends shop has a press that can handle a whole axle shaft

i work for a dealer and we charge 1 hr labor per axle u bring us. its the smartest, easiest way to have it done correctly. at that point, all u have to do is pop a new seal in (straight), replace brake shoes and fill the axle housing with fluid

 

You work at a toyota dealer? I would love to drop it at the dealer across the street from my shoo and then pick it up on my way home. But saving myself $200 and doing it at my friends shop would be nice too

Also to you recommend taking the shoes off before dropping off the axles? Or leave it all together?

 

if i was u, id clen it up real good, remove all oil and grease u can and let them press it together assembled. that way once u reinstall the axles, you can accurately replace the shoes. u have the other side to compare to

 

From the time I started to initial test drive was about 1.5 hrs. Most of the time was spent looking for tools, and I also was going step by step on the TTORA thread since I've never had the steering stuff out before. Oh and getting the damn tilt springs off. Make sure you have some vice pliers. Makes it a walk in the park. I struggled till I found mine. Then they were off in seconds.

Nope you don't at all but it was nice to have it off to be able to see what I was doing and getting into as well.

Next time I were to do it, it would prob realistically be about a 15-20 min job start to finish. But isn't that how it usually goes?

 

Took some pics tonight of my Hellas.. Not great pictures but you get the point haha.
As you can see, my headlights and GoLight don't do much good when the Hellas are on.. That stop sign at the end of the road is around a mile and half away.
the HID's in the Hella housings have some hot spots as I expected but the output is amazing. Well worth it
