I finally got around to plast-dipping my OEM rims and love how it turned out. Thanks to all of those on TW for the guidance!
The card trick there worked PERFECTLY too, I would highly recommend it!

I would have used Index cards instead of playing cards...that way I could play Solitaire while the derp dries!

    Looks nice.

Looks great, just don't understand why people use the cards...works fine without them. Interesting choice to peel the emblem...looks good.

Thanks :) I wanted to leave the emblem because I have some painted on decals that are grey so trying to keep somewhat of a color scheme. I didn't want to risk getting it on the tires in case it didn't peel off of rubber very well, the cards took less than a minute to put on.

Looks great man! I did my TRD OR wheels over the weekend. How did you peel the emblems? Did you just use a finger nail?

On the inside you can pop the clips that hold the emblem on and it comes right off. Then snap it back into place when you're done.

I'm assuming you guys are using the spray. I used the brush on/dip for my extra bed rings. I decided to coat my rings installed in the side rails, because they're so glaring. I sacrificed a eye bolt to see how the brush-on would work. It didn't. BTW, after reading their website, I decided to buy some of their primer to make it more durable. OTOH, it makes it much harder to remove...

    UPDATE:

For anyone concerned with the lasting quality of plasti-dipping your rims; I took the taco mudding, nothing too crazy but the rims got good and muddy. Then I power washed them at the car wash. I didn't put the wand point blank on the rim but pretty close (8-12 inches) and the dip held up like a pro. I was pretty convinced it would strip off but not so much as a nick was there. Success! So if you're researching on plasti-dipping them, I would 100% recommend doing it.

Looks great! Much cheaper alternative than buying new black rims. Did you only spray the outside of the rim?

No, I did the inside too. I didn't put it on as heavy in there but enough to make it not grey, it looks good from the outside.

I think I'm going to do this to my sr5 rims. Cheaper then aftermarket and if I don't like it
I will just peel it off!

Looks great!! Glad to hear that you took them off-road. No one believes me when I say Plasti-Dip is tough.

Think i'll be doing the same with my girl's Mazda3 rims. Good to know they were really durable for offroad use as well. This paint should hold up pretty good for some time then.

Nope, no prep work at all other than washing them like you normally would and taking them off of the truck. It took about 2 and a half cans
