    Nice truck!
Do you notice much if any MPG decrease with the roof rack?
I have a shell and I'm planning on building an external cage to carry my roof rack & Yakima Rocket Box.

Took my fender flares off to start the refinishing process of them.

Can't decide if I like the look of the truck with or without them.

Without them, it kind of looks too "base" model for me. Plus it optically increases the wheel gap. With a lift going on, it might be too ridiculous looking (the wheel gap).

But then glancing back at it, the rear kind of looks nice without the flares.

I think the truck will look nicer with the newly painted flares back on. They look horrible all faded gray right now (with lots of white fiberglass showing through from huge chips).

Speaking of refinishing them... the rear flares have that protective tape on the bottom leading edge. What do I do about that in order to paint them? The passenger side tape is kind of peeling off but I don't think I can remove it without it looking worse.

My truck is dirty. I just wiped down the body behind the flares real quickly. I couldn't believe how much dirt/mud and rocks were built up in the flares.

I dunno. Maybe with the new tires and black wheels it'll look better without the flares :notsure:

I like your year of truck without the flares. I'd leave them off.

It also looks a bit goofy with the mud flaps hanging off there. But I'd never run my truck without them due to the safety of others behind me.

Is the only reason preventing you from taking yours off due to the holes in the fenders?

X2 I pulled mine off. But I had the crappy little chrome fender trim things.. Not actual flares.

Well, I keep mine for a couple reasons, I need the wheel coverage, I like the larger flares on the '01-04 trucks and if I took them off I don't like the holes left exposed on the fender. That is all changing soon since I got some glass fenders.

Yep, agreed. I'd take them off but the holes are not my thing.

In the round trip to get my daughter, the flareless look has kind of grown on me.

I still contend it looks really awkward with the mud flaps (which I'll only ever take off for wheeling/camping trips). Plus I can see all the wires and stuff in the front wheel wells. I'll have to tuck it all up and add more zip ties to my build.

The only issue I have is there is a thin white line in some areas where the flare rubbed the body.

I think yes, but really have no proof to back it up. Maybe it takes less load off the engine?
