Yeah. It should help out quite a bit. 67k minus fed tax, so down to 60k give or take. Daycare at 13k a year, or so should help us pay down the vehicles quicker.

today I found out that the project that i busted my ass for to get it done was a total waste and they changed all of the dimensions again. but i didn't find that out until after i had already redrawn it so i got to redraw it again.
then i have another project that i've been trying to get some information on for months and the office girl has been totally worthless in helping me so she referred me to someone else. but he quit a week ago and no one bothered to tell me. and they issued a new set of construction drawings and never bothered to tell me, they've been out for 6 weeks and i didn't know it. its both frustrating and comforting to know that other offices run just as chaotically as mine!

Just about everywhere over here. Burger King night managers are making 60k.

Puke in public? They no know your bulimic?

Sounds like you sell to some morons.

Ive seen her drawings and I concur although I blame her materials not her. That sips stuff is crazy. Nothing like normal drawings.

wah wah ... It's construction and you're hourly with OT.

Sounds like you need to stop relying on others and step it up.
Not trying to be a dick, but all your problems are easily handled if you stay on top of things. One simple phone call to the architect solves all those issues of you drawing based on out of date plans. Ive been there and done that - I now know that if the plans are old I make a call before I waste time. Fool me once shame on you - fool me twice shame on me.

    Oh and Happy Tuesday :)

Winds Topped 70 MPH with the storms that rolled through at 1:30 this morning. Had to go pick up trash from the lot next to me because it took my trash can over there.

How is another construction company hiring a moron as a project manager my fault? I was told that the drawings I had were the most recent. If new drawings were issued its her job to make sure that all of the subs receive the new drawings. And when she couldn't answer my questions she referred me to someone else. When that person quit shouldn't she have let everyone, me, know that? I'm a drafter not a psychic.

It's not your fault, but if it happens all the time and you do nothing about it then it is.

You say your talking to some "office girl". What is that some receptionist? Cut out the middle men. Be forceful, but not a bitch.

I have $412,000 worth of doors for the Human Resource Administration in tower 4 on hold pending additional info from my customer. I simply told him he did not furnish the info that was required to process his order thus it has been placed on hold and all lead times he was given are now invalid and product will be shipping at a later date. Once the information is provided new lead times will be established.

I guarantee by the end of the day I have all the info I need. I didn't sugar coat anything, was factual, and forceful.

Customers only hear what they want to and will do anything they can to get out of doing their job. Since you work for the manufacturer it's your job to put a stop to that shit. At the end of the job when the house is 4 months late who looks worse to the architect who specified it and the tenant....the manufacturer, subcontractor, or GC? In my field all the subs blame us - so I put a stop to that shit immediately.

Managing projects is cool. Managing people not so much :D

That's why I am going the route I am with my degree plans. I have to manage people already... I would rather manage projects.

I'm the bottom of the totem pole in this job... which is a pretty high ranking area. But when I get back to McConnell (KS) I will be near the top again. But I hope I don't end up actually managing people... and stay in a testing and evaluating kind of role. I think if I went back and had to deal with these 18-23 year old kids we have in the AF these days, I would be losing stripes or getting into trouble.

I'm trying to figure these kids out. Is it the sense of entitlement, or horrible upbringing they have these days where the parents want to be friends and not parents?

everyone wants their kids to have more than they did and have an easier life.

there's only one problem with that... it doesn't work.

My generation already had it too easy and the kids should have to work harder not less.

Dude I hired on week two was buying a new car. He's still a "temp" for another 2-1/2 months. Dudes 24yo and still living at home. My first bit of money would of been to GTFO of my folks place. Kids these days just want to stay at home. :notsure:
