Give them the boot when they turn 18 or graduate college.

Boot at 18 worked for me. Also worked for my sister. She didn't get kicked out, but once she went to college she never came back home to live.

Makes no sense. I left a month after I turned 18. I worked at my dads restaurant when I was 10 until 14. Got a job working in the fields with the Mexicans, worked there and in the Christmas tree lots during the winters until I turned 18 and decided I needed out of Oregon and away from my family. I still don't care for family get togethers with my immediate family. I don't care for my brother, and my dad can be a complete asshole. They also have 5 foster kids right now, and my parents think I really care about them. They think I want them as part of my "family." No, I don't.

I'll move back to the PNW when I retire, but it will be 6 hours from my family, and it will be closer to my extended family in the northern corner, closer to Oz.

I went to college, had a little help from my parents after i graduated till I got a job (3-4 months) and i've never looked back.

my step-son will either get a job or enroll in college, but either way he's out after he graduates.

I don't know. You haven't met my dad, or my brother.

My dad is a diabetic, bi-polar asshole who thinks he is funny when his jokes are lame.

My brother is a pre-diabetic, bi-polar, depressed douche bag who couldn't amount to anything until the past 3 years. And this is because he has actually kept a job, and is the kitchen manager for the youth prison system in Oregon.

Told both of my kids I'll support them till they are either married of out of college with a BS degree, after that you're on your own. When they want something from dad they are required to work and earn it. My wife, she just gives it to them, their easy button.

Wondering how high in an organization you have to be to have a beer for lunch?

It is frowned upon most places. I won't do it. It just doesn't seem right to me.

I don't think it affects my performance either, but there is always the perception of your peers. I find it best to not even go there.

Thats what I would do if my sperm would stop swimming backwards

    Yours are young no?

Yikes! My family doesn't sound half as bad and I wrote those assholes off.

Good luck. Most of those kids live at home until they are 38.

LOL...if you have to question it - your not high enough

If so their rent will be so damn extreme it will be cheaper to move out. I have been preaching this for awhile now.

I also explained to my daughter that marriage is no guarantee so unless I approve of her husband the cost of wedlock is on them. A BS degree is guaranteed from me but marriage not so much.

I waited so long to have kids and while I would lay down my life for them they will understand that things worth having is worth working for........
