Trailer light problems

I have no trailer light voltage on back plug. Checked the fuse box and find no fuse just a item that could be a circuit breaker.

make sure your lights are on before you test?

ok....and how about the fuse?

 

Yes the lights are one. Can see the tail lights on the truck are on.

 

Where is the fuse located? I checked the fuse box and only find a blue, relay looking item where it says trailer lights.

 

may just have to grab the manual and look around, however, i've had times where i've jsut had to pull every fuse and look at it until i found a bad one. you'd be surprise what systems are tied together.

 

With a tester probe I attach the clip on a good ground and touch both sides of the fuse with the probe. Tells me if it is OK or not. I simply cannot locate the fuse for the trailer tail lights.

 

Check for a bad ground....white wire, I think. Are your terminals clean? Clean the terms then open up the pins using a tiny screwdriver or a pocket knife. Nothing? Take a wire from the truck to the trailer to ground them together. A test light or meter is most valuable now. Start from the plug on the truck and work your way back.

OH and dont forget to check the fuses

 

For lack of info, am assuming you have factory pre-wired trailer light connection package? Can't say directly, but if no breaks in wiring, probably the little blue thing (under hood fuse panel) is at fault. I wired my 09 truck with T connectors at the tail lights, but using 4 way emergency flashers or connecting harness while truck was running threw the truck turn signals into a 'crash' - even though not hooked up via factory method. So some idiosyncracy exists as stated earlier, where systems tie into each other.
