What does this have to do with the frame being replaced? I understand being pissed that they welded nuts in where they shouldn't have, but that doesn't mean they were fraudulent about replacing the frame. What am I missing?

And why don't you save yourself a bunch of headache and hassle and just cut the welded nuts off? You won't need them there anyway. Seems like a bunch of anger (not saying it isn't justified) that will only end in the same solution, cutting the welded nuts off. Just do it and be done with it and get the new suspension on.

Complete OME kit w/ 881's and dakars. All-Pro Sliders, CB, HAM Radio and various other minor stuff.
This issue is that whomever replaced the frame would have to install the front suspension since the frames come bare. Therefore, the dealer or a third party installer committed fraud during the installation. In turn, I was frauded by having been sold a vehicle after being told that the dealer properly replaced the frame.

You're correct that I "still" intend to replace the suspension so this, while aggravating, doesn't change my intent. However, there are several issues:

    1. Safety-Assuming that there is only 1 good stud holding the strut, if that stud had sheared, it would have caused an accident. Being the driver side front, it would have put me in the center median at best, flipped me at worst.

    2. The assembly-Someone went to great length to hide this. Therefore, the entire frame replacement becomes suspect. Every bolt, nut or stud touched needs to be inspected. At this point, who's to say that a motor mount isn't tacked in place?

    3. Fraud-I was fraudulently sold a vehicle that the dealer claimed they had replaced the frame. If they touched nothing and merely washed it before putting up the "For Sale" sign, then there wouldn't be an issue. In this case, however, it is no different than any other work done by the dealer. They did the work and it is expected to be done correctly and safely.

    4. All frame replacements-This is the million dollar issue/question. They need to figure out how this happened and by whom. If a third party and a particular tech did this work, then every job they've done of similar nature becomes suspect. If it is determined that a particular vendor/tech is responsible, it can easily become a civil issue or criminal issue if others have been frauded, injured or killed.

For 33s and a 5 speed hell even the auto. Not totally needed. They do help. I have drive and auto v6 with 4.88s that's fully armored. It helped a lot.

I'll let ya know how 5.29s and 35s with 5 speed and way too much weight feels like. Needless to say. I am looking forward to the new found torque!

You'd be wasting a lot of time trying to figure out why and who did it. just cut the bitch off, nut and bolt everything and move on. Plus if the nut was tack welded to the stud, it isn't going any where at all. Not the right way to do it but it held didn't it?

I feel for you man, but I hate to break it to you, you were not fraudulently sold a vehicle. You don't know if the problem you're talking about was even done by the dealer. They could have replaced the frame for a previous owner who did the questionable mod on his own without the knowledge of the dealer. Like has been said, you have next no chance of finding out who did that and I wouldn't count on the dealer accepting responsibility. You're going to waste you time and money litigating this. More importantly, and the reason your case won't stand up is because you were sold a USED vehicle that was sold "as is" and I doubt you bought with any kind of warranty. When buying a used vehicle from a private seller or a dealer of any kind in "as is" condition, it is the responsibility of the buyer to inspect what he's buying and make sure it is all as it should be.

I totally understand your frustration and can't make you stop your plans to file a lawsuit, but I can tell you that it will be a complete waste of time and money and just make you more upset. this is a textbook case of "buyer beware". Anytime you buy a used vehicle "as-is", the second you take ownership any and ALL issues with the vehicle are your responsibility and no one else's.

    Still sucks. Sorry man.
