Our original plan was to drive down Friday night to Oregon, and start heading up bright and early Saturday morning, and heading home Wednesday from wherever we are at that point, hopefully Canada. Would you guys be able to do that? Or would you have to head back on the 18th.

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
I can't speak for everyone else, but we would likely head back home sometime on the 18th. But, I also took the 19th off to have a day to unpack/clean up.

It's a 6 hour drive from the Nighthawk crossing back to my house, so it's not too bad.

The guy from the link I posted has some good tips about the route. Any more details like where we want to start and stop?

Start at packwood and go north from there?

That's what I was thinking, rather than spend a whole day driving to the Bridge of the Gods and back up north. Good link you posted too, I need to finish reading through it.

So many cool pics in that link. I still assume we want to camp, so we could break it up a little differently than the WABDR site? No need for motels heh heh. It's good to know we will have fuel/supply stops every 100 to 200 miles.

I would like to camp every night.

Fuel cost is going to be the biggest expense (for me anyway). I avg. about 220-250 miles per tank, likely less with 4wd and more gear. Planning on 3-4 full tanks @ $60/each = $250+...still less than a couple nights in a decent hotel :D

On another note, we won't necessarily have to worry about bringing enough extra gas along to fill up all the trucks with more fueling stations along the way.

Yup exactly. I double checked, longest distance between fill ups is 120 miles.

Now the next 2 biggest things... Figure out possible camping spots and how far we want to go?

Side of the road and wherever we decide to stop each day.

Are you serious? That sounds low even for our porky armored DCLB beasts.

I second that. It's good to have a few ideas but have flexibility in case we don't reach the destination or decide to go further. As long as there is a nice view and some good friends, can't complain.

What type of elevation are we looking at?

^^^ Dang. I don't feel so bad about my 280. Hell I even got 320 miles on one tank on a cross state trip. You gona make it out for one of our trips, Oz?

Yea I don't mean we need to have them set in stone, but having some good options ahead of time would be nice.
