Congratulations on the new truck, I hope you enjoy it. I'm actually kind of glad when people abandon Tacomas, because every lost sale for Toyota ought to push them toward this overdue redesign. They do have an awful reputation for complacency, though, so I don't know what to expect.

People always say this but to be honest its not like the direct competition to the Tacoma (aka Nissan) has done much anything either in the last 9 years or so either. Colorado died off, but of course is coming back for 2015 model year. No more Ranger...or for now at least.

Yeah... They look nice but that "live axle" they stuck with just didn't cut it.

I'm not doubting at all that there is a possible issue with the leaves on some F150s. Considering that tacomas have had shit leaf springs since the 1st gens, it is kind of hard to list that as a downfall on any other truck when comparing to tacomas.
I thought the leaf springs were installed upside down on my 1st gen they were so bad. :D

You've got a point there, it's not just Ford or Toyota, it's the de-trucking of modern pickups, to appeal to those that don't haul or tow anything. Since more and more people are buying trucks as daily drivers, and prefer gas mileage and ride quality over more powerful drivetrains, capability and higher payloads, this will be the standard going forward unfortunately.

Why do the pay loads need to keep climbing? There's a ceiling where more and more towing capability is pointless. It's not like people need to carry more weight than they did 10 years ago. If you bought a mid size to haul and tow heavy shit then you made a bad purchase.

If you need a truck to tow heavy shit get a full size.

If there had been a manual trans option in a 2013 reg cab 2500 4wd ram Cummins (or an F-150 or a Ranger in same configuration) that's what I'd be driving right now. Glad there wasn't now. The Taco has grown on me.
