    Hello All,

Just thought I would let people know that Toyota has enforced their frame recall for 2005-08 Tacomas. I will be getting mine in three weeks :taco::burnrubber:

The report for my frame noted that the recall was for cold climate states....not sure how that affects where a truck goes but fyi.

(this may be old news but i was told that the recall went into effect about 4 weeks ago).

    Good luck !!

I dont have anything "factual", I just dropped it off for them to find a connector under the (which I couldnt find because it was never actually there) and when they called me back they said my frame qualified for the recall that recently came out for 2005-2008 tacomas. If I find anything linking the info ill post it up

Ya im pretty sure theres no recall. i created an account recently on toyota's website and you enter your VIN when you do so. i just logged in and it says my truck (05 taco) does not have any service bulletins. I live in MN.

From what i understand, you can get a new frame if your frame is bad enough. Toyota will check it out for free, and if its bad they replace it, if its not bad they (apparently) will coat your frame to prevent it from going bad.

This is a "limited service campaign" no recall is going to show up on their site. I'd like to know for those that did have a frame replacement- did it show up when you searched your vin? Or did you just receive a letter? The service campaign is for 20 northern state zone of which is mine (Delaware) do you think I heard a peep of it when I took my rusted out frame with holes in it to the dealership?! Of course not! How about when I called?! Of course Not! How about when I emailed them the letter that was posted on here?! I was told my vin was not included- because they know it won't show up when you do your vin search. I guess you must receive a letter which I hear is going in phases 3 states at a time. Basically in every correspondence I've had they'd like me to believe the lies and just go away. I AM NOT I have a meeting with LEGAL counsel Friday.

My 2006 with 165,000 just failed the Frame Inspection Test at my local Dealer and supposidly Toyota will be contacting me to set up a Frame replacement within a week. They are saying it is a 2-3 week job, hope they have a loaner truck for me so I can tow my boat all summer!
Has anyone Tried to get them to give some extra buyback $$ towards a trade in under this $10,000-15,000 job?

Tennessee got zero degrees last winter. Does that qualify as a "cold climate" state?

Just got my 05 back from the dealership for brake issues. They indicated the frame is bad and took pictures of it to send to Toyota. They said it wasn't an actual recall but a goodwill replacement. Waiting patiently.....
I think its time for a new truck if they will buy it back plus the 10-15's for the replacement. My 05 is around 11000 trade in and an extra 10 will get me a lot closer. :).
Apparently the service manager indicated the frames were made in Mexico by Dana and the metal was inferior. Dana lost the contract after many years of creating junk.
I live in Ohio and fall under the cold climate area.

I am in Ohio and had my 06 inspected a few months ago. They said no rust but it sure looks terrible to me. They did not spray anything on there that I am aware of. I am thinking of going back with the info from the website. I plan on keeping this truck for a long time.

Toyota sure as hell is starting to do something under the table..My truck got rear-ended back at the end of may which resulted in a bent frame..long story short am getting a new frame from toyota sometime in the next couple months..this is due to the shortage of new frames toyota has in stock..my guess is because they are fixing peoples frames to keep it from becoming a recall..meanwhile im sitting here without my truck...

I just went in for an oil change and they told me there was a recall (their words) and that my truck was covered under it. I am booking my frame inspection for next week. So parts of Canada are involved as well.

Look closely next to your driver or passenger side cat. That seems to be a common spot where they are rusting out. Mine has hole big enough to stick a beer can inside right by the driver side cat.
