2.5" Bilstein 5100 in front, ? in the rear

I found a 2" aal from top gun customz. They have the long leaves, for what I've heard they are less stiffer than short aal.

 

Not true at all, the kit isn't that expensive and there is no need for a compressor. Semi trucks etc use them 24/7, why would you not be able to leave 15psi in them for daily driving? What are these "other things" you speak of? A bicycle pump will fill them in a couple minutes. Or if your truck has the outlet in the back a tiny compressor can be kept in the truck for when you need to air them up.

 

It seems like the OP has already decided his route, but this is for anybody else who is wondering-- I have Bilstein 5100 all around with the front set at 1.75" with a 1" block in the back. I have been running this setup for a little than a year now with no issues (lift related) with a slight rake (1/2 of an inch or so). How many leaves do you have in the back?

 

I got wheelers off road 1.5 ,for TSB leafs .... im 95% positive im going with 1.75 in the front . I like the factory rake , plus I load my truck quite often .

 

I don't have the tsb on mine, so hopefuly the 2" leave with the 1.75 will give me a good stance. I hope it's not too much rake

 

Sounds like you've got it figured out.

If it is too much rake you can rely on the rear sagging after a while.

You sure you wanna pay? There are usually TW members local to you that can help for a MUCH lower price. Not that they charge, but you would normally buy them lunch or beverages. I'm having all my work done like that. Also, if they are coilvers, you can just bolt them on. If they need to be compressed that is a different story.

 

I agree w RiderX.. Set them lower.. My 2010 is running just below 2.5 and I have the SkyJacker leaf springs in the back and it rides like a 3/4 ton Chevy...

My wife's Wrangler with a 4" lift is almost the same ride quality as this...

 

Local shop charges me 90$$ for everything or 50 just to replace the shocks .. I usually do my work om my old cars but I rather pay this time ..

 

I have 3 including the overload spring.

Oh ok. Now you got me thinking of setting it to 2.5 since I'll be putting a 2" leaf

 

Then heck go for it! $90 is not bad especially when you've already got the DIY bug out of your system

I agree, 1.75 would increase your rake but it depends on what rake you want

 

I want as little as possible.

I guess I'll install the leaves first then measure how much I gained with them since my current 3 leaves are old. How much sag and how long does it take usually for it to settle?

 

I wouldn't be able to answer your truthfully. I have only heard this from many people here, I haven't experienced it. I have heard some people say they sagged after 10k miles, I have heard others so there's no sag at all if you don't put a load in.

I think it would be appropriate to ask around or search for a sag rate. Search AAL and try and find someone who has documented their experience. Hope this helped.

I forgot to suggest you just go ahead and get a progressive 3 leaf AAL. it is supposed to maintain comfort and apparently not sag as much but don't quote me on that. If I did not already have an AAL I would sure as hell buy a 3 leaf.
