Man, when did they get so expensive? I had comcast, then switched to ATT UVERSE, now I canceled them. Is it at all possible to get HD cable and internet for under 100 bucks a month? They aren't even trying to give the services away anymore either. When you called to cancle they used to offer like 2 months free or a promotion rate...now they just don't care it seems.

What the heck are my other options? I was going to go back to comcast, but they freakin prices arent any better. Everyone jacks you if you want HD. It seems like its equivelant to "undercoating"... DVR= more money, then rip off taxes and fees....grrrr. Comcast also wants to change an installation fee, which is a joke as well. The house is ready, just give me the damn stuff and Ill plug it in. 130 bucks is what they are trying to charge for 1 tv and computer. Get real! I am thinking of picking up a dvr for a 100 bucks and buying an antenna for my roof and screwing cable tv.

Don't you have a local Comcast office? Just go in and pick up your modem, HD receivers, etc. and do it yourself. I'd never pay them to install that stuff. I've always just gone in and picked up my equipment.

I agree they are expensive and I despise Comcast. But I have no other options at the moment. After having cable internet all these years I'm not downgrading to DSL, and FiOs isn't available here yet. Hell I think we pay like nearly $150 a month and that's just with HD with no premium channels, and high speed internet. Have one HD reciever, and then I picked up a Tivo since I preferred that to their DVR service.

I just opened a new account with DISH. I got 1 HD DVR receiver for the living room and one HD receiver for the master bedroom. Installation was free and took about 2 hours. 3 free months a HBO and Showtime were also included. The bill is $54.99 for the first 3 months and then jumps to $74.99 after that I believe. I have the silver plus package with over 250 channels in SD and around 70 in HD. I don't think the price is to bad. But I did not get internet through them. I go through my power company for that.

Yea, i had some package they dont even offer anymore. They were trying to get me to go to the u200...which would DOWNGRADE my painfully slow internet and give me more channels...for.....the same price. actually more money once the "promotion" was over. I asked how this was going to help me, I got no answer. I only have 1 TV, but I Think the dvr units are all linked anyways, arent they. I know a couple people "stealing" sat. tv. Not sure what I would do for internet. I think Comcast is like 50 bucks if you have just the internet which makes me sick.

I have CMA Cable in New Orleans and it's about 110 bones for Phone/Web/HD with DVR).

It is expensive...but it's a pain in the ass to do much else. I have a wireless broadband card for my laptop..and between that and two phones my wife and I pay 160 a month...

You want cheap HD channels? Start looking into FTA TV. One time cost. You get decent channels depending on your area.

I think depending on your area, you can pick up off-air HD for free with some rabbit ears. I know its only your local channels but thats what I did for a while before I upgraded to HD with DISH.

I'm almost with you...There are about 3 sites I've found that have about 99% of what I want to watch. No news tho...I don't like news that much...but I really don't like having to stream it in little chunks and stuff.

I have a package deal with 3 cell phones, UVerse TV (5 TVs), fastest internet speed, ground line and long distance with AT&T and it was cheaper than anyone else in Charlotte. I like the service. Service and repair is INFINITELY better than cable because AT&T is held to much stricter national regulations. I totally dislike and have great disdain for the cabel companies. They raped their consumers and only backed off when the phone companies started competing with them. Monopolies SUCK.

well, i plugged the cable into the tv, and what do you know, it must still be hooked up.... I get all the locals plus quite a few cable like disney, nick, food, hgtv, discovery, etc. I went into the 100 range and picked up a movie for about a minute before it went off :( Is there a way I can tap into this to pick up the movie channels? I think thats what I had for a minute because they were saying fuck and stuff which I am pretty sure isnt allowed on basic cable? I get HD @ 1080i as well for some of it. sweet. also found a wireless signal to use meanwhile as well.

Yes you can have your cake & eat it too.

I had HD,DVR,internet, phone( only used for my alarm system) Dish network $140. I tried Crapcast(Comcast) with the same items & the bill wasn't much better $130. So I decided to drop everything but internet & basic cable (for football season). I'm paying $40 for internet, $18 for basic cable. But here is the trick: My TV is smarter than the cable company(I have a 46" Sony LCD TV). I set my tv to find the channels. Instead of having about 20 channels. I have 90+ channels. I have almost all the HD channels for FREE! My tv picked up channels that are between the whole numbers. Like 65.4 is food network, I have 3 HD NBC's,2 HD Fox,HD CBS,HD ABC, HD ESPN, etc...

Also I now watch TV on HULU.COM(much better than regular tv), Freepasstv.com,History channel.com.

Between Hulu, iceflims, and netflix I keep myself topped off on TV and movies.

Netflix is like 9 bucks a month...but my wife gets the DVDs and it includes "unlimited" instant on your computer movies. I say "unlimited" cause not all the movies are available for the computer format....
