    oh yea, and if your current drive shaft slip yolk can't handle the extra droop whats the point?

    You'll just end up blowing up the splines and really messing up your drive train.

    pretty sure this is what Ant was going for with the shock setup rather than effectiveness of the shock.

    Why would you do that? It would be protected more, BUT it would mean you have to go with a shorter shock that has less travel. Check out Jandrews build. He extended his travel the right way IMHO. Also added a trac bar to limit the horrible axle hop/warp these trucks are so known for.

    yea, it's been my shock reference to people for years. well written good summary.

    No clue what he was going for. I just know Ill dust him in the trails now for sure :D

    Rocks not so much :(

    Boyd in reference to your statement about the slip yolk,

    When rock crawling I imagine it would be a pretty slim chance that you'd have both tires at full droop (compared to lt where you may be air born and at full droop) so to me that would mean the drive shaft is unlikely to be able to separate at the slip yolk.

    Also when I had my drive shaft retubed it needed to be longer than stock length due to the truck being lifted. The amount it was extended I don't remember, but I've wondered if there should be a small gap for when the suspension compresses. I haven't seen any other info regarding it so I have just been hoping the driveshaft shop knows what they're doing.

    As long as the yoke hasn't bottomed out before you're on bumpstops you should be alright.

    Not sure how your shaft looks (no homo), reg cab is a 1 piece and you can push the boot back and look.


    Pull the shaft off, clean the grease out of the slip yoke so you can bottom it out by hand. Mark where it bottoms out, measure the distance from the end to where it bottoms out. Re-grease put the shaft back in, drop the truck to full bump and see how much of the shaft is visible. If you're bottomed out you may be in trouble... Raise the truck and see where it bottomed out.

    I'm no drive shaft guru but I would expect a longer spline to cope with the extra travel not a longer drive shaft :notsure:

    but again I'm clueless - never did any research on it, but I need to soon. heck I don't even know what the name for ours would be. all I know is crap I picked up at my friends houses as they work on their trail rigs. last driveshaft I saw explode was a tom woods on a samari and it was due to faulty welding and minimal penetration.

    this is what I'm thinking. with a longer shaft and the same articulation I would assume it would bottomout

    After a little snooping through the group buy threads I find his name on the list for this products group buy.

    So I then do the math and figure it out, that he paid less than what he is selling the product for.... What a fucktard and somebody is probably gonna buy it :mad:
