Yeah, that was one badass camping area. It pays to have beers with locals when you travel. They love to spill the beans on all the best camp spots and I HATE camping in campgrounds!

I'm headed to the Big Horns tomorrow for my annual 10 day trip. I think this will be my 19th year. Lots of elk and moose. Beautiful views. Pictures to follow.

    Tanks! :)

 Last time I was over there I was the only out of state plate! I've gotten i nthe habit of exploring the areas around the parks just to see whats there and to get away from the heavy traffic. If you make another trip to Yelly/Tetons let me know, I have a few other suggestions for you for secluded camping spots
It would be pretty good for that - very little light pollution in the area

    Oh really?!? :spy:

Not really a secret - just a little further off the beaten path than most tourists are willing to go. Plus there's no facilities over there so most tourists aren't brave enough to rough it.

Agreed! I'd much rather pop a squat in the woods than hold my breath in one of those pit toilets! ;)

    Awesome pics!

Are there no bears in WY? How do you prevent your truck/tent from being ravaged by bears with all that food in there? Or do you string/hang the food from large tree branches?

What do people think, a 3-way fridge, or a cooler with bear-resistant™ latches?

When considering an extended camp in an area with some but not lots of black bears.

Are you talking ARB vs Yeti?

I have been leaning towards ARB, no ice to deal with, low power consumption and even the 37 holds alot, but I like the portability of the Yeti. If you do longer trips, say 3+ days, I would go with the ARB.

Just in general. I hear that fridges keep stuff cold enough that odors don't really get out (unless you slather the inside of the fridge in bbq sauce or something). Coolers seal well keeping odors out.

Just wondering what some of the people who live in bear country use, if they use a cooler/fridge.

I ask since I'll be camping for a few weeks in the mountains kind of near Denver until an apartment that I reserved opens up. There's not lots of bears but it'd be nice to be able to bring some cold drinks, or keep some sealed meat in a cooler or fridge to cook over a fire for dinner.

Dry and dehydrated food for two to three weeks is doable but will get old after awhile.
