I've been looking at the Kydex this afternoon and that looks pretty sweet. I think it would come out WAY cleaner than old mudflaps or something like that. Gonna keep looking at that stuff.

Keep the ideas coming if you have them.

Alright..I can actually contribute... I went to Home Depot and bought a small sheet of that corrugated plastic stuff in the sign or metal isle (don't remember where exactly)...then made little template from an old pizza box, transferred the shape to the plastic, cut, fit it in tight then hit it with spray paint...it's flexible, weather proof and cheap as hell..it's been in,driven probably 6000 miles in all weather and ice, wheeled hard and still holding on great...worth a shot for ya, if you want a pic let me know

A friend and I used kydex to make a couple holsters. That stuff is solid.

O and I forgot a part..a couple years ago I did this..but I picked up a piece of the cheapo rubber floor mat crap from HD, you buy the length you want off the roll..and I cut it to fit around the suspension and pinned it up with the plastic fender pop rivets from an auto parts store... They actually fit better than factory and provide complete coverage keeping stuff out of the engine bay...mine are beat up because I'm rough removing them and don't really care but I should at least throw a couple plastic rivets back in

Don't know if this will help but Tom used pond liner to make engine aprons, don't know how well it would work for inner fender liners

    toms idea

I'm not sure if the pond liner is the right stuff for engine aprons. I've been running the one piece on the truck for a couple weeks now and ready to try some 1/16" nitrile rubber I ordered.

I think the heat may be a little too much for the pond liner. It is doing ok and serving its purpose but has definitely stretched out. I don't know if the material longevity is there for that specific application.

OTOH, it is easy to work with, pliable, waterproof and seems durable. Should do ok in colder temperatures but don't know how well it holds up to sub-freezing. It may be fine for applications farther away from the engine bay.

Adam, if you are interested, I can ship you a good size section of the pond liner. The smallest size they had was 7' x 10' so even with finishing out the aprons, I'll have a good chunk left unused.

Yeah, it may work. Never hurts to throw an idea out there. I don't know what exactly Adam is attempting to accomplish. He may need something more rigid though. :notsure:

You make me laugh Mark. I don't have any problem with guys running 35's. I just think it's done more for looks that any tangible benefits over 33's.

I may eventually throw some 35's on my truck when I have to replace tires but I'll admit it will only be for looks, not for function.

I had already moved from 35's to 37's before he was out of diapers. He can take his 35's, his ginger hair, and his truck with the underbite and eat at the derp buffet for all I care. :)

I just got a chuckle out of it not being worth it because you do not get any "tangible benefit" in your opinion when moving up to 35s, but you are bored so thats a better reason to tub the truck.

Not worth it if you want to move to a bigger tire size, but it is worth it if you are bored and have nothing to do and might do it for looks down the road  now you have lost me.

at least no part of me was doing it for looks haha...might not be worth it for most people. But as brady said, i drive the truck like i stole it and i firmly believe the 35s and work to tub it was worth it. But if you just need some other project to pass the time i fully understand, 100%. I look forward to seeing how well done and meticulous it will end up being.

hey now. that was brent that said that. not me;)

Glad to hear you have used a number of different tires before I was out of diapers. We all know you have been doing this for a while. Neat story brah.

Hey Adam, which vehicle do you prefer to wheel with while with your family, the 80 or the Taco? I know a little off topic from the recent posts.
