I love my Filson stuff. Hard to part with the cash sometimes, but all their stuff is worth it. The only complaint I have with my Filson bird vest, is it gets heavy after a few miles of walking.

There was a time when people volunteered to be lookouts for exactly that reason. It's a shame so many of the towers have been allowed to deteriorate or been removed altogether.

I agree TJ and gave my Filson vest away a couple of years ago because it was just too damn hot in early season. Wing Works all the way they are made in Idaho and the ballistic cloth will last as long or longer than Filson. If there is a downside it is that they are stiff so sliding under barbed wire fences is tricky because the game pouch sits up some and catches sometimes. But it will not tear.

Before dry finish I used to dry clean my Filson gear so they breath better. The dense weave will turn briers and if it is rainy snowy I use a goretex shell anyhow. The only thing I haven't removed the wax finish from is the umbrella and black weekender coat. I only wear the coat in town and not worried about sweating in it like in the woods or field.

Trick to picking up Filson at a decent price is to wait for the rare sale or clearance someplace. It took me 3 years to find a gun case at a price I was willing to pay but was worth it. Girlfriend always grabs my wheeled carry on before I can and I usually end up with the Pullman which is fine by me.

Still getting the hang of the flash and should have just gone manual or Ta, ISO ended up at 1600, but I seem hooked on Tav mode most of the time. When the dog isn't on his seat in the back I have the briefcase every day and sportsman bag when shooting. The umbrella stays down there all the time in the summer and gun or fly rod case depending on what I am doing after work.

Dog hair is of course everywhere ;)
