well didn't just read it, met someone in denver while i was out there, and they were using it in their f150, and he swore by it. more research i am doing, but still interesting stuff

25-32% improvement in gas mileage just by changing the oil? Sounds like snake oil to me.

 

well, i wanted to see if someone has a clunker they would try it on , y aknow, somehting that can afford to be "guinea pigged" the website says it has american oil certificatin or what not so its seem svalid . but stil llookin into it

Any claim to increase the mileage of a vehicle should be backed by an EPA test facility.

It costs the manufacturer about $25K to get their product tested. It sounds like a lot of money for a test; but after that, they can confidently advertise that their product passed the EPA test with postive results. They'd sell as much as they can make. Claims of boosting your mileage by 10% fall easily within environmental and driving condition variations.

I'd also worry that it would void your engine warranty.

 

These guys must think they reinvented the wheel..

 

well, they do say its not going to void a warranty, but in theory, imo, if theere is less friction, and teh oil breakdown temp is higher, it will a) last longer, b) pay for itself. c) less friction means easier (less stresS) to move engine parts more fuel effecient, but i am hesistant as well. They do show that they have American Petroleum Institue certification. which i dont think you can put if its not true.

still, to good to be true isn't always a false statment, but thats why i said if someone has a beater to try it on, it could be worth it

 

I would NEVER NEVER NEVER do something like that, EVER. Why? Think to yourself. What is the purpose of oil... and why do we change it? Lubrication, sure, but you change it because your engine wears, the oil loses viscosity, and your filter gets old and 'full' for lack of better terms..... a different oil changes nothing. Its probably a lighter weight, which could easily explain why it gets better gas mileage. Imagine if you had a problem and there were metal shavings in your engine. You'd catch that within 3k or 5k miles right, because we do routine oil changes. Imagine doin the 20,000 mile oil change like they're suggesting. Think of how long that shit is rolling around in your engine. Its just asking for trouble.....


All in the name of laziness. Thats all it is. You don't want to have to go get your oil changed every 3 or 5 thousand miles. Get the hell off your ass and ride a bicycle then.




Oh... and 195 fricken dollars just to get an oil change. There is no way that pays for itself in any way! I spend around 20 bucks for a dino oil change (I do my own), more now for synthetic.... either way. 20k miles is 4 or 5 normal oil changes, thats a little over 100 dollars. No way in hell I can justify that if I was lazy.

Take pride in your vehicle. You wouldn't send your wife out to be a guinea pig for a new drug that could kill her right?

 

Crazy ppl out there I tell ya. This reminds me of the spark plugs that someone found on the net. The seller claimed that the spark plugs significantly increased HP and torque, untill they tried it and found out that the spark plugs broke or caused misfire something along those lines. I wouldn't believe anyone about any results unless it is someone you know personally and/or trust tried something like that. The best of luck though.

 

i have to disagree with you on this one, synthetic changes go 15000 miles for porche standard...thats how they do, ferrari, 15 - 20k as well, that is fact. oil change for a ducati is $180 and thats like 3 quarts. price is not a reflection of these things, but it is questionable. when i found out that porche goes 15k between oil changes i thought it was nuts,
