This was after service manager said he would. Not happy with them. I need to get a shock replaced under warranty and I am going to give them one more chance. I am going to point out the fact that the owner manual states that it is customizable.

thats my one beef with toyota is the lack of consistency between dealers and your experience.

Go to a different dealer in the area.

I will be turning off the seatbelt beep soon on my own via my ELM327.

They don't have to, and they can be held liable if they do and the vehicle is involved in an accident. They occasionally do it as a favor to those that ask.
But if the manager said that he would, then direct the servicing tech to the manager that said that he would.

My manual does not say anything about it being customizable.. can you post a picture of the page?

Can Torque do that, or do you have to do it manually?

I don't see anything about it being customizable, and I thought it was against the law for them to do that??? Or, on the least, there are serious liabilities and ramifications if you crash and don't have your seatbelt on and it comes up that they disabled the chime.if that's the case, it's a little unrealistic to assume they don't care about your vehicle or satisfaction. I know when I was in service, we had customers asking us to turn off door chimes, seatbelt chimes, airbag lights, tpms lamps, etc... We could not do it. Period. And some people became obnoxious, nasty and disrespectful with us.

A lot of TW members have had their dealers do it, so I can understand if someone has the impression that they are supposed to do it on request.... but dealer service runs the gamut from great to horrible.
Like another thread where the dealer REFUSED to change the oil at 5000 miles on a '14.

Yup, i am thinking that it is against the law also. Since it has to do with safety, they might want to not mess with the system.

You can turn it off yourself. There are instruction on turning the beep on/off on the forum here. Takes 15 seconds

Quit whining and just do it yourself...

    Seatbelt chime disable
    -Turn ignition to "on"
-cycle trip reset button until it reads "ODO" turn ignition off and wait a couple seconds
-make sure seatbelt is not fastened
-turn ignition back on, when dash lights up hold reset button for 12 seconds, fasten seat belt, ODO should show "b-on" press again to show "b-off"
-turn ignition off and unfasten seatbelt

    Edit: nevermind-

my dealer did it without question. as you pointed out, it's mentioned in the owner's manual. because of this it is appropriate to believe it should be done without static. OP, sounds like your dealer is dishing out some bullshit. if you start a petition describing them as assholes i will gladly sign it. try another dealer i guess.

    Check out the build
I disabled mine on my '09, not so I couldn't wear my seat belt, but so my dog or backpack don't set off the alarm on the passenger side.

I don't understand how it could be a liability on the dealer since they can't make you wear a seatbelt and chime eventually goes away. So the excuse is you need an alarm to remind you to wear a belt?

You can't do it yourself on the newer models. But what is this about using the elm327?

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
There is a missed step in that procedure, I think you do a 10 count in the middle and plug in belt. Worked fine on my 08 AC. I wear my seat belt religiously on road, but don't like the stupid chime for when I'm driving around at work or on my property

Well that's how I've been doing it for 4 years.
