So what is the outcome of the noise that the videos show? Mine does the same and sounds like a small goat every morning?

My 2013 also makes the same noise cold.

I sure hope the OP's new 2014 doesn't have the noise after all the trouble and time it's this has taken to get resolved. Keeping my fingers crossed for him.

I read a lot of this thread with pure amazement at the way Toyota handled this Hotrod. Nice job on patience and navigating to a satisfactory resolution.

It probably does. But at least he has a new truck that hasn't been torn apart and rebuilt.

We'll see, I hope not but you never know. Currently since it has been all apart, it's worse now that it ever was. Originally it only made the noise if it was lower than 55 degrees, now it does it all of the time and louder. The only difference is that the noise lasts a little shorter amount of time when it's warm out.

I'm supposed to get my truck tomorrow, but in typical Toyota Mid Atlantic style, they never confirmed with me so I really have no idea if I get it tomorrow or not. Surely they don't expect me to leave work at some odd time to spend a few hours at the dealership to do this.

The truck only had dealer oil changes. The noise started before the first required oil change and continued after the first oil change.

Mine had it also before the first oil change (Since 3 miles on the ODO), funny thing is that oil changes (2 already) have change the loudness of the noise and how it sounds (intermittent to more constant (like changing its frequency))

Glad you are getting a new truck OP.

UPDATE: the truck is officially stripped and ready to turn in. It was supposed to happen today but Mid Atlantic hasn't reached their 3rd party to do the swap. I'm ready to go at a moments notice, probably Tuesday or Wednesday. At this point the plan is to drop it off at the dealer, get a loaner, return later for the new truck.

What I figured. They are using a factory recommend oil weight. Doesn't the oil cap say 5w-20 or 0w-20? It is to thin. Works great for economy though.

4 bangers use the 20 weight plus something like a quart more, can't remember. Probably happens more then we think, one of the 1st services I had, they had listed something like 7qts of 20 weight on the invoice. I brought it up and they said it was a inputting error. The tech definitely used the right oil is what I was told. They both taste the same, so I don't know. Waiting on pics of the new ride, been following this since the start. Hope all goes well hotrod

UPDATE.... I've seen it.. it does exist!

I went to the dealership today because my inspection ran out. I've been waiting to turn in my 2013 and I told the dealer that I wasn't getting it inspected. I was told not to worry because the transaction would be before that ..... OOPS. Through no fault of the dealership my 2014 has been sitting on their lot for 3 weeks now.. we're waiting for Toyota's 3rd party to do the transfer. They inspected my '13 for free so I can keep driving it.

My 2014 has the pinstriped already done, they built it with the doorstep protectors already on it, I gave them my Weathertech vent visors today and they are installing them, and I discovered today that they put in the next better Entune radio... (BONUS). This one has XM for 6 months, my old radio didn't have XM at all.

The dealer has no idea when the transaction will take place, but we're getting closer.
