As long as you're riding it and enjoying it, that's all that matters.

I will say, it's a $350 bike and you shouldn't expect to take it on any serious stuff. If you want to do that, you will probably want to find something better. You could sell the current bike and buy something new or even look through the used bikes for something a little older that fits the budget.

    In the meantime, ride on!

what's everyone think of the fat tire bikes? Wal-Mart has one with disc brakes for cheap, I was thinking about picking it up just to bomb around on...

Walmart's not really the spot for buying bikes. So if you're cool with it maybe not lasting too long, could be OK.

Stay away from department store bicycles. They're heavy, have cheap components, and easy to break.

    This is so true!

When I first got into mountain biking I bought a $120 Mongoose mountain bike from Wal-Mart and the first time out I bent the rim. haha

A week later I went out and bought a Trek from a Bicycle World here in San Antonio and 3 years later absolutely no problems.

There's a world of difference between how the two bikes handle. The mongoose was HEAVY, especially uphill.
The Trek is so much more nimble and waaaay easier to ride uphill, the hydraulic brake lines are amazing compared to the cheap cable brakes the mongoose had.

    Yes, I sold my '13 Taco. :'(
Yesterday was bittersweet, as I delivered my beloved Nomad Carbon to its new owner....one of my good friends. *sigh*

My favorite build to date without a doubt....such a fun bike to shred!

Here she was the day before I sold her after a good cleanup and lube:

...and with those funds, I made my official entry into the 650b world today:

Never would have though about supporting a bicycle that way.

I could have used a rear shock today. Found some very rocky trails with my hardtail today.

    Yes, I sold my '13 Taco. :'(
The seat post is probably one of the best places to hold a bike up. Super easy to work on everything else. :)

Haha I rode the snot out of it, but I guess it also helped I didn't take any major spills as well as clear frame protected the crap out of it. :D

It really is crazy how quickly the 650b trend took over the industry. Back when I first built up the Nomad 2.5 years ago, I would've never thought I'd see myself building a 650b bike. With Santa Cruz ending production on the Blur TR/TRc, the only full suspension bike left in their lineup that is still on 26" wheels is the V10....which is also rumored to be updated to 27.5" very soon. Crazy.

    Thanks man I'm excited!

Tell you what, I took a ride on a friend's bike with a Pike on it.....and that's all I needed to be convinced that it's FAR SUPERIOR to any single crown fork Fox has out right now. Hopping off the Fox train for a while LOL, Pike is where it's at.

If you noticed I opted for the cheaper(non-Kashima) rear shock as I'm yanking that off and selling it asap. This is because Cane Creek has apparently co-developed with SC a DB Air CS specifically tuned for the Bronson....even has its own part number. This shock will be offered as one of the new upgrades to the Bronson as soon as they release the new 2015 colors for the summer(ive already seen the colors, and not a big fan lol).

Just a heads up for you Santa Cruz riders....in addition to the updated colors and build options for 2015, SC will be offering I believe THREE different carbon layups to accommodate every rider's budget. So naturally there's gonna be premium/mid range/budget range option for carbon layups on the frames. A person on MTBR has posted pics of official SC build sheets for each carbon layup. I assume in the long term, SC will eventually phase out aluminum frames by aggressively pricing the budget carbon layups against them. Kinda crazy to me.

I'm primarily a downhiller, though my downhill bike is ancient by most standards; a 2005 Turner DHR. Still rocks though!

I work part time for a shop in my town and our Cannondale rep just hooked me up with a price I couldn't pass up on a 2013 Trigger 29er they had on closeout. I just converted it to tubeless, added some pedals (I'm a flat pedals kinda guy) and put a Command Post dropper post on it (not pictured). I'm off work tomorrow so I'm going to finally hit some real trails with it:

By the way, that above Santa Cruz 650 is going to be dope. We have a customer who just got that frame and loves it.

I agree, Pike is a game changer! Got one on my sb66c and it is far superior in every aspect than anything fox has. Pair the Pike with a ccdb air and you have the best suspension combo ever

Pike is handsdown best fork...if only rockshox could make a rear shock that performs as good, its a shame haha or a dh fork that feels as good as the pike does

Isn't the new Boxxer world cup supposed to be similar to the Pike?

that sounds about right to me. i feel like when the pike first came out it was such a big deal because of the charger damper. i think thats the one they have been developing in the black box boxxer...i could be wrong though, I haven't been paying attention to bike stuff for a months now haha

After a few rides and seeing some gak building up on the back of seatpost area on fr derailleaur and frame pivots, decided to make me a small fender of sorts to help keep that area a bit cleaner. I don't take this bike out for muddy rides but mud happens when you ride trails here and there that is unavoidable so I figured the frame pivots could use the help. There are 8 pivot points in this area that I don't want to be grinding themselves into submission so here is what I made using a cardboard template and then cutting it out of a piece of ABS I had laying around. Sits in there on it's own and secured with 4 zipstrips..................
