From what I hear, bears can still smell that food regardless what container it's in. I always put my most pungent smelling food in a and then place my cooler outside my truck, and away from my camping area as much as possible. Basically, if the bear wants it bad enough he will get into it. The bear vault makes it really difficult and near impossible for the bear to get the food, but keeps it from ripping through your tent/camper/truck door to get at the smell. The rest of the food/cooking oils etc. can go in a bag run up a tree on paracord, or as far away from the campsite.

I'd rather wake up and discover my food scattered around than my truck door ripped open by a hungry bear. I can't speak to a fridge, but I'd consider emptying it into a cooler at night to avoid tempting a bear into my camp.

-(I should add, I got this info from a ranger when I was camping in Yosemite where critters are masterful at breaking in to your food. There's pictures of cars torn open like tin cans from hungry black bears.)

I like to gut some fish next to someone elses campsite. I have never had a problem with bears but my camping neighbors on the other hand...well, if they were still around they would tell ya.

Back early, but had a great time; got some braaaaaaaaap's in and saw some galaxies; so a good weekend overall.

I only put it together wrong twice :D. Then was saying holy s*#@ "That's not a moon it's a space station!"

Time to see what this new air-mattress is all about:

And at this point I almost couldn't stop laughing.:der:

    It fits though!

After a nap since I work nights and was quite tired at that point it was time to get down to the fun part:

And after few hour moto ride around the trails in the morning I decided to come home as there was clouds forecast all night.

Not sure about the air mattress, it's extremely comfortable and nice to get in and out of due to the height, but man it's just crazy big. There's a little room around the edge for stuff in the tent and when I put the rain fly on it has vestibules. It felt like pure luxury after my standard 2-person w/camping pad affair that I usually strap to the back of my bike. Truck camping does have it's advantages... :D

Well then you'd be OK over there. If you ever make a trip to Grand Teton Park just let me know and I'll tell you where to find the "good" camping spots

Yellowstone and Grand Teton are civilized places...they have flush toilets in most of the campgrounds there.

I would go with a cooler, fridge takes up too much space in the truck. I've wanted a Yeti for a while because they are bear resistant but I just can't bring myself to shell out the clams for one.

It didn't come with instructions?

    Men...

In other news....I met up with BobCape yesterday. After he posted pics in here of his "secret" moose spot I had to check it out myself and we ended up in the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming on the same weekend, total coincidence. And I found mooses! 10 in all - 6 bulls, 3 cows and 1 calf. Had 2 bulls grazing about 30 feet from the truck this morning :D

Awesome camera and wow that's a lot closer than I'd be comfortable with. Moose are generally cranky from my experience around them.
