Those are the days of pirate that i want back!! Now if you dont have an ultra 4 spec truck on coilovers riding on 40s your a pussy! I wish we could go back to the days of the old toyota truck forum where the goal was to build the truck as cheap and as strong as possible, thats here the real tech was. Example my buddy built his own air bumps out of pipe and bouncy balls for less than 10bucks at home dept, it got two replies on pirate, back in the day that would have been added to the bible! Now its "call jimmys 4x4 and have the build you a chassis, get your spider 9s, and then call Fox to help custom tune your cilovers in the desert, all for a trail rig"

Sorry for my rant, i want my old school pirate back!! (2001-2007).

Thanks! It looks even better in person.

I may change my stance on that soon, I just need to focus on other things for a little while and stick to smaller projects for now. Once summer is over remind me you want one

Squeeked out a repair last weekend before heading out of town for a buddy. He had a pretty badly rotted first gen he wanted fixed for a farm truck. Main rot was at the rear spring hangers.

Passenger side repaired with 3/16" plate:

Chopped the cab mount on a FJcruiser last week. The cab mount is so similar I used the same template for this as I do on the Taco's. Turned out nice. Tyler has a nice FJ, sits nice and low and is outfitted nicely for his purpose.

Working on the rear bumper I built a while back. Starting from where I left off:

    20140913_121310_zps560d435e_86229caf6cc849fbe11981c20e3f2ecb0a9a3ada.jpg

Add a hole for the spindle:

    20140913_125428_zps57ba0ebc_008f28bbe7178c3d5f0c236c71cbd5a20fc0e91f.jpg

Mocking it up. Jeremy wants it pre-runner style and no more tailgate, so that's the direction it is going.

    20140914_153605_zps63f14d38_d330c2351a805e3460ae2099253cada345b30c1d.jpg

Added some recovery points as well. This was as far as I got:

    20140914_211929_zps920afc32_0ab02ec51836052d364b3786ac66314d31795564.jpg

Spindle assembly is from AtoZ fab, it has two tapered roller bearings in the spindle. It supports my fat ass, lol. Main tube is 2x3x3/16" wall.

Hopefully I can get some more knocked out tonight, this should shape up nicely :D

Thanks! I did a little more last night:

    20140915_220408_zpsc9785a0d_6748d58a9efccc659d7fc401e489e9699d21f8db.jpg

It was supposed to have filler plates in the sides with some more dimple died holes, but he wants to openings left alone for now. So looks like I gotta just mount the license plate and this one will be done. I am happy I got to test out both die sets for the bender with this project :D

Welcome! Although sorry to hear you have to be in IL...almost as bad as Cali lol :D

    Finished up the bumper:

    20140916_213042_zps7a7637ae_42f6c538cc446e98b0ebf6c6be27331b1e776b3c.jpg

Gussets where the tire carrier "hoop" connects to the swingout "tube":

Built a couple mounting positions into the mount so the tire position can be adjusted as he undoubtedly will get bigger tires soon.

hopefully I can get a finished pic with his spare mounted up soon
