Can I clear 33's with a 3" ProComp lift?

I just bought a 2008 Tacoma and I'm trying to lift it for as cheap as possible but still have quality and the ability to clear 33's. I found a 3" ProComp lift kit on Amazon for $500. Is this lift a good idea for what I have in mind? Here's a link to it:

Yes, they'll fit with minnor trimming. But I will say research first! Much better lifts out there...

 

What lift and tire setup are you running? And I was also looking at the ToyTec/Bilstein coilovers and Toytec aal's. What do you think about that?

 

The sky's the limit with what lift you want. Do some searching on here. It seems like a lot of guys are really happy with the complete Old Man Emu kits though. Those cost around $1100.

 

The only thing I want to accomplish is to clear 33's. Will the OME kits allow that? And any other suggestions would be nice. Thanks guys.

 

To answer your question, you'll be able to clear 285's with the right wheel backspacing. You might rub your front mud flaps. No biggie, just remove them.

My tires are 295/70r17 (33.26x11.61) Toyo MT's

 

I took the mud flaps off the day I got it lol. I plan on doing a little mudding here and there and I want to go with the black on white look. And that's a nice truck man. Where did you get the coilovers and what kind of lift do you have in the rear?

 

If all you want to do is clear 33s, get a 3 inch spacer lift. You'll be able to fit 33s with minor trimming. That's going to be the cheapest route. Now if you want to wheel it, then I'd get something different. Really, any 3 inch lift should let you clear 33s with a little bit, if any trimming. Another thing to consider is what width tire are you planning to run. It's going to be a lot easier to fit a 33x10.5 than a 33x12.5.

 

I want to run 33x12.50R16.

 

I have the lift youre looking at and 285's. The 285's are 11.2" wide and rubbed before I trimmed the plastic. I imagine an extra 1.3" of tire width is going to require a lot more trimming than I did.

Edit to add: keep looking around for prices on that lift. I got mine for 320 bucks. Cant remember where from.

Just watch out on your wheel back spacing. If your going to run stock wheels your going to probably need a spacer to clear the upper control arms.

what i backspace and offset will work best for no rubbing? i plan on trimming the mud flaps and stuff

 

I plan on running 16 or 17x8.5 wheels. Would I need spacers for that?

This system will let you run a 285/75x17 tire on a 4.75" backspace wheel.
but what if i wanna run a 285/75.16 tires what backspace will i need then?

 

Lifts kits usually run from 4 to 500 all the way up to 2 grand. All depends on how deep your pockets are.

The rims size changes but the back spacing stays the same.

 

I personally wouldn't go any more then 4.5" on Back spacing

 

If I figured this up right by adding half of the wheel width(4.5") to the offset(12mm or .47244094") then my backspacing would be right at 5". With a 3" ProComp lift and 33x12.50s would I rub? I'm just getting into this stuff and don't really know much about it.

Yes, you'll rub bad. ^^^This is the chop I did to clear my tires and they are 1" narrower then what you're considering.
