If any one needs a light or a chime to tell them to put one there seat belt they should not have a drivers license.

You...uhm...are aware that cars weren't even required to have them equipped from the manufacturer until 1962 or so, right?

So, you're of the opinion that noone that drove before 1962 should have been allowed to drive?

exactly my reason plus putting stuff on front seat. I do not need a beep to remind me to put it on when driving public roads. Lady that I tboned after she ran a stop sign is reminder enough. Totalled my F150 and her new Taurus.

    Sigh..

Am i the only one who has accidentally set off the seatbelt warning on the passenger side after putting a load of groceries there? Or even just my work backpack?

Heaven forbid there is a legit reason fro not wanting bitching betty...

It was extremely aggravating when I put my back pack in the passenger seat as well, but no more! One of the best changes I've don't to my truck.

I had my '13 turned off on my first oil change no problem no charge. It still beeps one long beep i think when you first drive with the seatbelt off, which if I remember right is the requirement under the law, and the drivers side dash light come on solid, but it does not beep every 20 seconds for 10 seconds or whatever as you drive like it did before. The passenger side beeps for like 20 seconds when you first drive off but then doesn't do it any more and I "think" the light blinks for quite a while.

Seems that he is saying if you need a vehicle to remind you to wear a seat belt you most likely shouldn't be driving anyway. Those people would also most likely need a HUD to give a lesson on how to put the truck in drive and where to properly place their foot to apply pressure to the accelerator. Shouldn't take a reminder from the truck to put on your seat belt while driving on public roads, should be common sense. I may be wrong though.

Wow, long thread for something that seems so trivial. You all do know that the chime stops after like 20 seconds? So it beeps for a few seconds- I don't see what all the fuss is about. I wish my life was so perfect that the seat belt reminder was a big issue.

I guess I need to leave mine off for 20 seconds. My 2009 did seem to change frequency after a little but it seemed to pick back up. It was easy to disable unlike 2013. In 2001 f150 all you had to do was push down on the seat belt release button.

    1) Turn the Car 'ON', but do not start the engine (Leave your foot off the brake). Cycle your trip reset knob until it reads ODO. Turn the ignition back off. Wait a couple of seconds.

    2) Make sure seat belt is not fastened

    3) Turn the ignition back on, do not start the car (Leave you foot off the break) As soon as you see everything light up, press and hold the trip reset knob and do a long 12 second count.

    4) Keep your finger on the trip reset knob. Fasten your seat belt, as soon as you fasten your seat belt, you should see the ODO display go from XXXX miles to "b-on". At that time take your finger off the trip reset knob and press it again. It should cycle to "b-off". You should be all set and turn the ignition off and unfasten your seat belt.

Dealer has no reason not to now. I opened a case with Toyota corp. CS. They gave me a case number to give the dealer. We will see how it goes on Weds.. I fully anticipate flack and maybe a charge if they agree. They told me the first time that there would not be a charge. I am getting primed for a battle.

I'm definitely asking my dealer to disable that thing. I wear my seatbelt on a regular basis, but for hunting, I want to be able to get in/out and drive short distances and not have it ding at me. A lot of times, deer or moose will run when a vehicle shuts off, but won't if the vehicle continues to run (was told it was something about rhythmic noises). They'll certainly hoof it with that damn chime going off though.

The dealer refused to do my also. They are such a PITA I went ahead and ordered a seat belt extender from eBay. I deer hunt and often step in and out of the truck checking tracks, listening for dogs, etc.....the seatbelt chime is a constant source of irritation when in the woods.

^^ do what someone els did and tell them you want it off for when checking deer leases, or tell them you have some property and want it off for when checking fence lines.
