    As you get older/wiser you find ways around that. not going to post a "how to" on ripping off freight companies on tw, but let's just say its very easy to insure you don't take a hit. Just shipped 85k worth of product the Chicago last week and if they break it my company will get more profit then if it arrived in one piece.

    I double my profit on whatever I ship every time USPS loses something. So far 6 packages. I come out ahead because I turn in the receipt for what the person paid for it, not what it cost me to make. USPS wouldn't honor my claim without a proof of value, and since I can only prove what I sell them for, that's what I do. I could fraud them for more, but that's not how I would want my business to fail, so that's not how I'm going to treat another business.

    The difference with THAT right there Skip is that your 85k shipment cost you what... around 10k to ship easy? The more you ship/ the more expensive the shipment is the more you get away with

    Our insurance has nothing to do with value. It's based on freight classification and weight. We get a set amount if insurance per pound and if product costs more than it would be insured for (very rare because glass is heavy) we would add additional insurance.

    And no - a dedicated truck from PHL to Chicago isn't even close to 10k.
