hey monte, what should i be looking for in a good head unit?


or is there anything in particular other than features i'd like to have?

 

LOTS of stuff depending on what you want..

Are you going to be feeding a seperate amp? or just off the head unit? How picky about sound are you? you like messing with a parametric eq or just a basic?

Joey this is what i have and it's the bomb. I love putting my library on an SD card and never having to change cds. Depending on how far you will get into its features sound wise it may be a tad much for you tho. A great option tho.

and yea no kidding..i have a shit load of my dad..damn his rig is so photogenic..that red man..

but i have some real nice ones of everyone for the most part

 

haha, my truck gets plenty of glam shots... I liked pulling caboose and watching the trucks roll thru the scenery

no amp in the near future. just looking for basic really but room to improve if i decide to

Tail gunning is fun for sure.

And damn..my photos look nice. But i am still about the spec of mud on the lens haha

 

if you are thinking of amps in the future, get 3 sets of 4v RCA outputs for sure.

3-5 band parameteric is really getting standard these days. So that won't be a huge deal breaker.

as far as bluetooth/SD card/USB/ect..up to you there.

for power output, find something with 20+ watts RMS...NOT PEAK! needs to be RMS.

Id go Pioneer. Great sounding units and lots of features for the price. Alpine is okay too..but haven't been super impressed with the sound of my dads and its a bitch to tune.

 

The last bunch of photos i have a mud spot on my lens too man... you can see it in a few shots... Clearly we're hard on our gear
