I didn't remove it. I have no liners in my wheel wells so I was able to get my drill in there with a stepper bit and take care of drilling and mounting.

 

My tubs are in the way. Looks liks it pops out but not sure. did not want to flat bar it till I asked

 

They do just pop out, but like you, my tool box was just enough in the way to not let that happen. But you have to make sure to pry at the right spots to get the clips to release. I am sure there is a write up on here somewhere about it.

 

Careful when you pop those out Jim. Once I popped mine out, they never go back in and stay. Might be able to fix it with Mikes favorite 3m tape, but who has time for that?
