    Nobody wants to spend the money for a halibut charter. :rolleyes: this group thinks you can do Alaska on a budget. :notsure:

    Randy and I have 3 or 4 long weekend halibut fishing trips planned in July and August with the Zodiac. Kristi's Mom wanted to go is the reason I planned to use a charter. Can't see her wading 3 ft deep in surf and hopping over the side of the Zodiac, she agreed. I offered to go with her, or pay for Mitch to go with her, but she declined since no one else would go. I'm a little frustrated by all of them pulling the cheapskate card, but it is what it is. Mom says she'll come back another time by herself and we can take her then. :( I'm only sad because I believe in living today 'cuz there's no guarantees on tomorrow. She's not getting any younger. It'll be ok but I'm really pissed at the gang for pushing her away from going this time ... Which explains my running on about it here. :eek: Sorry, guess I needed to vent.

    EDIT: Update - first Sockeye run has passed Kenai and it's closed to Kings. Looks like we'll be heading to the Russian River to fish for Sockeye (reds)

    That's too bad...I'd go on a charter if I was there...or maybe not as I get seasick too fast :eek: I hope mom gets to do some fishing! I say you make reservations for the two of you and just drag her out of the house no matter how much she protests :)
    When my parents came up I got a salmon and halibut charter for dad - mom wasn't interested in fishing. I had actually won the salmon charter in a raffle and when I called to make the reservations I asked about halibut charters too and the guy gave me a good deal so I couldn't pass it up. Took longer to clean and pack the damn fish than it did to catch them! And expensive to ship them back too. But dad had a blast so that's all that matters.

    :rant: :annoyed: :quickdraw: is it illegal to shoot a dog that's chasing you?? :spy: Don't get me wrong, I LOVE rotties, but this one is left in the back yard by herself most of the time.... if not all the time. dad had her out front "on" a leash and when she saw us, she took off after us. I just grabbed my "halt" and sprayed the stuff at her and she headed home. think dad thought she just went back because he was calling her - nope. Chalk up another save for Halt!!!

    I do need to call the P.D. and see what they have to say... Can't call it a dog bite, 'cause we didn't get bitten or actually attacked, but we were charged and only "saved" due to the halt.

    Thank God the girls just stood there and didn't do what they usually do when seeing other dogs. They seem to sense when they need to behave.

    sorry your fishing trip got kapowed Rob. Exactly on the getting older and not knowing what tomorrow will bring.

    I don't mind any particular breed of dog, but individual dogs - yes. There are some nice dogs of all breeds in the 'hood and a couple of not so nice dogs. I've never "met" this dog, when she hasn't been after my girls, so..... :notsure:

    Cascadia seems to have some serious vendor issues. Funny - I was keeping tabs on them on fakebook for many years before everyone got them on TW and it seems they only started having major issues when TW GB's came around.

    Its not that it was a TW group buy its that it was a TW, Expo, Ih8mud, and a million other places that somehow found out about the discount and spread the word around like wildfire

    No, not like you said. The group buy last year was between TW, ExPo and Ih8mud (and the year before that ExPo and Ih8mud) and things went fine. But somehow word of the discount spread beyond the forums and things went to total shit.
