We took a route from n scottsdale in and it was a little bouncy and really bad washboard but no 4x4 or even semi challenging stuff until the last 100 yards we drove. My buddy made it in his stock first gen prerunner even through the "4x4"part with some skinny pedal before. So unless you decide to cross the river which is totally optional it's a super easy trail.

The area you get tosis beautiful, it's a nice wide spot to swim and there's a hot spring that someone built a hot tub around. If you have kids or just want to go cool off in the river is a good place to think about going.

Looks like a cool place! I'm into rock collecting and supposedly there's a place to collect geodes just to the west of the bridge as you're coming from bloody basin. I really want to go check that place out sometime.

When you come inbon bloody basin you come up to a T about 15 miles from the verde thats where the road from way north scottsdale and bloody basin intersect and become one. We probably went right by where youre talking about

Yeah I think that spot is right around that intersection somewhere. Sounds like a trip out there needs to be planned!

Yea, that last 100 yards is the worst part and you don't need 4x4, Jason took his LT prerunner back there no problem. We wanted to do the sheep's crossing then wheel back down the Verde and pop out at horseshoe lake. We didn't have it mapped though and we were on the wrong side and turned around.
There is an old power plant out there we wanted to explore over to, so yea I'd be down to do this trip assuming the weather is nicer and the river is low.

Icon MT suspension, Pelfreybuilt front bumper, Relentless skids, Avid sliders, Avid custom rack. Pelfreybilt HC Rear bumper.

If this trip happens I would like to tag allong. We have lots of hot weather ahead of us or I would suggest an overnighter, that place looks real nice!

I'm down but until I get new leafs or something so that washboard doesnt just bounce me everywhere id rather be a passenger in someone elses vehicle lol

Sounds about right the section the friends I went with said was 4xr was a little rocky but they also said they had taken a stock prerunner through it so idk its just the toughest section of the trail that we hit. Driving all the way down to horseshoe would be sweet!

Sheep's Bridge to Horseshoe is actually pretty easy to navigate.

Last year, I went up Cave Creek Rd thru Seven Springs until reaching Bloody Basin Rd, then turned east over to Sheep's Bridge. The navigator of the day had ADD, so we missed the turn towards Child's Crossing (probably the old power plant somebody already mentioned). After seeing another rig cross the Verde, we went across and followed the road south until reaching the ranch and crossings below Horseshoe.

The sand around the bridge and the various river crossings were the only need for 4x4. Except for a couple side trips along 7springs rd. Airing down tires makes a HUGE difference on washboards also. I've usually ran 35/30 on the highway, and drop to 17-20 on the Taco.

    Bill!!

I just don't know what happens after you cross the Verde as you stay along the river. The sandy climbs out of where we got boxed in at gave the pre runner a little trouble but nothing a good driver mod can't handle.
This is seriously just a dirt road. Airing down is crucial for any kind of smoother ride. On the way out I was up to 50 in some sections towards 7 springs. I think that it may be kinda cool to camp the springs and head out in the AM towards sheep's crossing or just camp back on the Verde.

This sounds like a trip that needs to take place, and airing down does make a huge difference, especially when you drive a stiff-susp vehicle like a jeep :) If I drop my MTRs down to 12-10 PSI the washboard pretty much disappears.

That power plant sounds like it's the old Childs Hydroelectric powerhouse, very historical place.

An overnighter would be awesome. Are we thinking late summer/early fall?

Anytime its still warm enough to swim would be good!

So if you guys were in my spot would you go for sliders, a tire carrier or leaf springs and shackles first?
