I going to look Monday at lunch hour to see about getting some of these tube steps. It's mostly to help the wife and kids climb in. My dad got a new truck with tube steps and they went ga-ga over them. Planning to install them myself. Been looking for instructions online and I've only found some for other brands, but these can't be too different. Doesn't look too hard either.

Hey if you still don't like the short bed, I know your in Texas but, check out this body shop here in Utah, you may be able to find one in your area, they can put a long bed on your truck, and if you get the right lift, it looks great!! I talked to them for my dad and they said that they could do it to his Taco no problem, but the great thing is it doesn't affect your factory warranty and they cover all the mods and the drive train themselves. Anyway here's their web site: http://www.longbedmegacab.com/index.html Oh and they have some pretty awesome vids.

I just bought an '09 Tacoma regular cab 4x4. I've had it 4 days and already got it half-buried in a mud-hole like a moron. I learned my lesson though. I'm going to bring a measuring device of some sort before I go blindly through something like that. Another Tacoma thankfully pulled me out. So far though, I love it. It handles surprisingly well on the highway and the mileage is exponentially better than the Jeep Cherokee I traded for it. It's very well appointed for the price I got it for. The 4wd is phenomenal and I'm pretty sure the only reason I got stuck is that I was in 2nd gear and 4H, otherwise, I think I would've made it. However, I'm not willing to test that again. I did lose both drivers' side mudflaps in the deal. Anyone know where I could get some for a decent price?

Well Panda, I met Mr T with all that gold on. He walked up to me on the street and said, "You got the time Bro." Somewhere in LA IIRC. Guess that makes me an Official Brother. Don't know who that girl is. I have a 2003 Radiant Red XCab 2.4L Tacoma with 51,775 mi. Gas mileage improve over Mobil 1 when I put Amsoil 5-30W in it and it kicked the power up a bit - I was surprised. Somebody keyed 3/4 of the right side which I touched up with the official touch up - which doesn't match - looks almost black but maybe I didn't use it right. Truck sees just highway use and street use. Here is my version of offroading. This is my first new Tacoma but I did have a used one. Got this one 6 years ago tomorrow.

    Welcome to TW.

OEM might be a bit difficult because I don't think they have offered an OEM navigation system.

I like my stick on garmin GPS, but you can also look into head units with built in GPS functionality.

I would stick with the stick-on GPS like a Garmin. I am constantly afraid that some one is going to see my deck and pull a smash'n'grab...

hell i wanted an in dash unit forever, but the one like i wanted wouldve cost me $1500. so i went with the Garmin 265wt. love it! hell, id rather have a portable one any day. u can actually take it out of the truck and walk around with it.

and another reason that sold me on it was that the HU-indash gps take forever to start up.

hope that helps in the selection makin swingman

Yep. That's because they are all basically computers. So, they have to boot up and load applications. Mine takes about 15 seconds with the latest firmware update.

The good thing about the in dash units - customization. I am modding mine this weekend.
