What's your current setup and goals? Sliders can be invaluable in the rocks/trees for sure. A complete suspension system that is well designed and works together helps with ride and performance. Until the spare just doesn't fit underneath, I'd out the tire carrier pretty low.

That would work. The last few years have been pretty warm even into Nov.

For sure, I know of at least 4 trucks that would do this trip and camp. As we get closer to a decison I will post in the monthly again, which I haven't done in awhile...

We should get flakes and wifey to come down for this one..

Flatter than flat, if there wasnt an aal in there I think they would frown...

I'm a 5 lug that gets into dumb places so sliders would get some use but not like pivoting on rocks or extreme 4x4 stuff. Tire carrier is more for looks and because I dont really want it under the bed. Right now its just strapped into the bed I would love a tire gate but they're stupid expensive

Sliders are a definite must, I build sets for $200-230 installed, depending on the body style. A tire carrier is a bit more work, but I could probably do a bed mounted swing out style for $500 built.

Yeah gonna be starting up in a week or so. You might be able to do what another member and I did and combine two stock leaf packs to "rehab" and lift that bad pack.

I agree sliders are a must! I used mine the entire day Sunday... Lots of rock contact when you're running 265/65/17 HT's :(

I've never really heard of or seen this done. I'm pretty sure my leaves are the originals, are they even worth saving after 180k miles?

Okay I wasn't sure if the first gens were the same. Why not weld new spring perches on top of the axle and flip the pin on the current pack. That would give you about 3" of lift right off the bat. Maybe more. you'd have to measure it.

Butchering different leaf packs that are not the same really fucks up the spring rate of the pack.

Id still need a new leaf pack and I lose all the advantages of being sua. I'm not really going for more lift. Purely performance because I get wheel hop like none other and my leaf pack is shot

Not sure of a difference between the SUA 5 lug springs versus Prerunner/4wd, but the stock set on CrawlinWJ's '07 was completely shot, as in negative arch. Using the leaves from another stock pack brought it to this:

Three weeks later and he's only lost 3/4 inch I think. He'd have to chime in.
