Pretty much stock with some crap welded to it.
What are you asking for it? Whats the mileage? Any mods? Got a picture? Any dents? Any engine problems? Manual or auto? We need some more info.

It is probably one of the top 5 most desired used vehicles in the USA. Whatever mods you have, whatever condition the vehicle is in, whatever the condition of the title is in, you are asking for too much money.

    Bingo.

I see it all the time on motorcycle forums.

Someone has a 5 year old metric with 20,000 miles on it.
    KBB is $5k.
They list it, including listing all of their mods, giving full retail, and add all of that up and ask $2k more than a brand new bike with a 3 year warranty.
I've even seen guys list the cost of replacement TIRES!

Rule of thumb... Add up your mods, then add 10% of that to the selling price.
Some mods can actually reduce the value.
Among these would be Plasti-Dipped OEM rims, spacer lift, etc...

Exactly, except mods rarely increase the value of any vehicle. Personally, I would never consider a vehicle with mods (unless it was a bargain over a 100% bone stock equivalent) but that's me.

Also, I didn't look at Op's location, but trying to sell a PreRunner in a place that sees snow all winter as an example would be tough. Also what color is it? White and silver are the easiest colors to sell, colors like green, beige and dark reds are tough to sell, bright red, blue and black are niche (You got to find someone who really loves a loud color or wants black)

It's radiant red. 136k miles. Great shape. Never been wrecked. No real mods to speak of. It is lifted 2.5 in the front by a spacer and 1.5 in the rear with an AAl. I'm in the south so I feel that if it was 4wd it would have sold already, and I have had a lot of people interested but no one pulling the trigger. I have been asking $15,000.00 but I am negotiable on it. Based on NADA value that seems more than fair to me. Maybe I'm asking too much... I'll post pics when I get to my laptop.

A Prerunner in Philly is one issue, 136K should not be. First impression is $15K for an '07 may be a little strong for a Prerunner. My '06 TRD Offroad with 175K traded for $12K.

In the south, for the most part, nitpickers aside, you're going to have a hard time selling a lifted 2wd. The people in the south who look for a lifted truck generally want it to be 4x4 to get in some mud.

If you were out in more of a sandy climate with some sickhouse Dunes, you'd get more people interested in the lifted 2wd.

Most people are rightly apprehensive about buying a lifted truck. The reason being that many folks lift their truck and then they think that turns it into a fucking M-1 Abrams. They proceed to wreck the shit out of it, break it, get it half-ass repaired and attempt to sell it.

This may not be what you did, but this is what most people are afraid of buying. The Chances of it happening on a lifted truck are much greater than a non-lifted truck.

Now if you get one of the nutcases from this forum selling his lifted truck, he's going to have full receipts and will be able to tell you everything about every mod done to the truck and most likely took really good care of it. That's obviously an exception to the standard truck owner.

Finally: You're asking a bit much for a prerunner. I can pay just 2k more and get your same truck in Florida as a 4x4 OffRoad instead.

I'm going to go out on a limb, and say most lifted trucks 5-7 years old with mods or lift are going to appeal to a younger and less broad margin. That said $15K would be tough for most young people to spring for on a vehicle that will still be relatively expensive to insure and fuel.

I'm not saying it's not worth it, (That truck would probably be $16-$18K) still out here in California. Probably almost $20K if it was white and bone stock.

Pretty sure it's the asking price. My 110k mile, '06 4.0L 4x4 from the dealer was $16,400. And I didn't exactly get a steal.

From a private party I would've expected AT LEAST $1500 less.

My '08 5-lug regular cab was $14k, 53k on the odometer in December '11.
Not a Prerunner, but a comparison point.

    nothing personal..constructive crit?!

how's your sales ad? were you just as "wordy", like your original post? :D

i think a washed vehicle..spotless, and a great ad with pics goes a long way. with a well written, intelligent description, of course.

    good luck.

12k might be more reasonable. if younger kids are looking at it and have to finance. banks wont give them a loan for that amount.

There's an '06 in Texas with only 10k more listed on the forum for $12k.
