This is mostly an informational post. I bought a ARE shell after they installed it I found out I could no longer use the tie downs that slide on the rails.
Kinda a bummer but it is what it is.
If anyone has managed to use the stock tie downs with a ARE shell I would like to see how you managed it.

Mine work just fine. It could be shell model specific (I think mine's a CX) or truck model year difference (I have an 05).

    '12 with MX. works fine

What's preventing you from using them? Does the inner lip of the shell come too far down and block the rail?

I have a are cx series on my 2014 and my tie downs fit fine on the rails

My old 2012 had a leer 100 and they fit as well

What is the problem, do they not fit, slide, can't get them on?

Are cx here on a 2012. The inner lip comes down a little too far to use the factory tie downs. Thought about notching the inner lip where I want the tie downs to live, just haven't gotten around to it

maybe figure out where they will be of the most use and trim the lip on the shell so you can mount them back onto the rail, even if they don't move around having them available in some form may be of use.
