30,000 service

hello all,
I have a 2008 tacoma tdr sport, I'm about to take it to have the 30000 miles service, does anyone knows if I need the following:

Spark Plugs replaced?
Fuel injection service?
Does the limited slip diff. oil needs and additive?

Any help will be appreciate it, I know I need to do the oil changes (motor, transmission, differentials), replace filters.
Is there anything else that needs to get done?

I'm asking about the plugs, because a mechanic told me that I didnt need to replace the plugs yet. And he told me that limited slip differential needs and additive.

Does anyone knows about this.

It'll all be in your owner/service manual. Most cars these days come with iridium spark plugs, which are good for 90k-100k miles.

 

You don't have to change the spark plugs, but it would be a good idea to take them out and clean them, and check the gap. I would just change them and not worry about it.

I never did the 30k mile service. My truck is still going strong with 126k miles. Actually I never did any of the stealership's services. They are such a rip off. If you want to do these items do them yourself & save a ton of cash. This website will have all the instructions you need to do the job right.

I just cleaned my throttle body for the first time. It was a piece of cake. Spark plugs @ 80k miles, easy. Coolant(pink stuff) @ 100k, easy. Of course I do all my oil changes. Differential is easy if you can get the top plug off first, then the bottom plug. I couldn't remove my top plug, So I had to have it done professionally.

Not really, but you can run some injector cleaner like sea foam through just to make sure, it should not hurt anything. I run a cleaner every other oil change or every 8 k miles, but a lot of people say they use sea foam and swear by it. So I think I'll start using sea foam.

 

How do you use sea foam? I got confuse reading the bottle one day. It seams like it can be added to anything. I was going to add some to my fuel to try to clean it out but didn't know how much to use, add it to a full tank or empty tank, etc.

 

When your tank is about empty, dump in 1 can of SeaFoam right there at the pump (take a little funnel with you or get a disposible one) and immediately fill the tank with gas. It'll mix nicely as you pump in the gas. don't re-fill the gas until the tank is almost empty.

If you suspect the injectors are really dirty, just use one can and only fill the tank half-way. Don't re-fill it until almost empty.

 

so I just like and gasoline additive?

all you need to do is to put it in before you put gas???

 

Thanks! My truck is a 09 with 27K on it. I drive it like an old granny, baby the throttle, and I am in and out of it like the UPS man.

I am also thinking about doing it to my wife's 06 CRV with 37K on it. I cannot stand to drive it.

 

I would stay away from SeaFoam unless it is absolutely needed, which it is by no means warranted at 30k. 100k maybe, 30k no way.

Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner is the best off the shelf injector cleaner there is. You can pick it up at most wal-marts, autozone, advance autoparts, etc.

How often is recommended?

 

I use Techron myself, and it's not as harsh as SeaFoam, which contains some acids that help etch away corrosion. I don't think it hurts to use SeaFoam once a year, but i certainly wouldn't use it once a month.

Techron you can use frequently, and frequent use keeps things cleaner in the long run, but for real tough cases nothing beats SeaFoam IMHO.
