haha not everything needs as much help as mine. Plenty of bikes that are good to go from the start.

I wouldn't buy a "play toy" bike because you might be a bit short. Get a slimmed down 600, and lower it a bit. You want to be able to basicially have your feet on the ground while straddling the bike.

Once you get moving the weight of a bike is not really an issue. Only when super slow cornering.

 

Always messing up? Shoulda bought a second gen

For me, my motorcycle would be the less reliable, even if it was new.

Know what's not fun? Having something down for 7 months that you really want to use. I guess if you really want a project bike to build that's cool, but I enjoy riding too much. I want it fixed and done

Yeah, my buddies CBR1000 is an 87 model and he hasn't had to do anything yet. New seals for the forks and a new chain are in his near future though.

I wouldn't say play bike, but like you said I don want something I can have both feet planted on. Don't really want to have to buy something and lower it just to fit my height.

We'll see what they have at the shop tomorrow....

Messing up as in needing maintenance from the off roading I did in New Mexico. But you wouldn't know anything about that.

I don't know the feeling. All i've ever ridden was kids dirt bikes

I have worked on all kinds of bikes but have only recently started the hard pursuit of a bike of my own.

 

Only driven a bike once in my life. And that was the CBR1000 haha

 

you should be able to fit on a CRF250. you have to think if you are looking at new bikes or anything, it’s ok if it’s just slightly tall at the dealer, the springs will soften up and it will sag more with just your weight on it. so with something that you can touch one foot good but the other foot just barley touch, in a few months the other foot will touch better. Also imo you don’t need your whole foot to touch, just the “ball” of your foot.

Also when stopped you are not suppose to have both feet on the ground. keep one foot on the rear brake. thats what they told my brother when he got his motorcycle licensee.

 

I do! And today I rode it all around Boise, then cruised back to meridian as the sun was setting. Perfect weather so I could ride with a t shirt and be comfy. Been looking forward to this for a while.

50 miles a day might not be a lot for most people, but after rebuilding it for 7 months being able to have it work well, and reliably all day and come back and not have any problems or have it leak anything is such a great feeling. I'm so beyond stoked from it!

I may not wheel on the regular or have the knowlege or capability that you guys do, but don't say i haven't been out in the woods, putting some usage on my big blue bitch.
Just for reference though, last time i was legitimately offroad was probably two months ago.

Mark, i'm not saying i want a project bike, i'm just saying i don't mind getting a bike that needs a few things. (A few things that i can drive the price down with )
