just recently i've noticed how bad this particular spot is. 3 times in the last 2 weeks at a few different intersections with a crosswalk, there has been someone positioned at the crosswalk so that when i look left they were directly behind the driverside pillar. i proceed to pullout and then i get mothered up and down.

i've had this happen at a couple intersections with other vehicles too. not all the time, its almost like it has to be a combination of the perfect elements. Vehicle size, slopes of the road etc...

i feel bad, i;m not intentionally doing it. i'll just need to make sure i look well past this thing now...

I drive dirt switchbacks with the seatbelt off just because of that stupid a pillar.

At least since its soo thick already, throwing gauges on there doesn't make it worse.

I hate to tell people to try and move their seat around because I hate to do that when I find that spot that's really comfortable. You might just have to develop a habit to lean forward and look. I'm not sure what else you can do.

I always move my head and look for pedestrians for that exact reason. Always look around through the blind spots.

Removing the vent shade might help some.

it would help some, but the bulk of it would still be there. i dont know why i never realized how bad it was before, but i definitely lean forward more now to double check at intersections and parking lots etc...

Man I had a Ford Super Duty before my Taco, you could lose a damn 18 wheeler behind the pillar on that thing. Especially in a large turn.

I've had the same thing happen when it snowed. I was turning right and I was looking left waiting for a gap to merge in. When I had a gap I started to go and thank god I checked before I went because some woman had ran in front of my truck. I think she was hidden by the pillar and the hedges... She flipped me off and everything but I feel like if your walking in front of a 4000 lbs vehicle you should be making sure people see you especially if it's icy out. :notsure: I felt like shit for the rest of the drive home regardless.

Driver visibility is probably the thing I like the least about the Tacoma. That and no armrests. I'm extra careful about changing lanes because of the blind spots.

Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
I never had this issue with a front blind spot, I struggle with the ones in the rear corners of the cab..... especially with a LEER cap on the bed. There is one particular on-ramp that just cant tell if vehicles are coming, and when they do, they come quickly.

I have a SnugTop topper and sometimes the rear view mirror is all but useless. From day one, I have used 2" circle tow mirrors stuck the lower outer corner of my side mirrors. Picked them up at O'reilly for a few bucks. When you get comfortable with using them, the rear view mirror is a thing of the past.

I also have issues with the forward blind spot but have made checking it a part of my driving protocols. I use Weathertech window vent shades any they do not cause any visibility issues for me.

Regardless of the ventshades, the pillar is wide, you have to move your head forward and sideways to scan the area that is blocked, so for all the sideways motion you may save by removal of the ventshade is minimal. I prefer the ability to have my windows down a bit when it's hot but there's still a chance of rain and live with the trade off of having to move sideways a bit more to see all my forward surroundings. Weather on the east coast can change fast and a soaked seat sucks.

The tacoma cab is filled with blind spots. The one you mention and the rear view mirror. The mirror conceals the car to your right perfectly at a 4 way stop.
