yeah no...... i dont care if it had 500hp.... its a chevy and a horrible one at that. Been burnt on the past 2 chevy's I owned.... and theres a reason a CHEVY dealer wont take CHEVY's with over 100k miles as a trade in, but will take a toyota as a trade in with 180+k

That is all I intend to do. Plus I will enjoy the dealer salivating over the possibility of getting a Tacoma in trade.

I will not be. I was raised chevy but they look no where near as good as the tacoma. As far as hp I would rather pay the money and have a sc put on the tacoma than go buy the Colorado or canyon. I read an article where it said they could hurt toyotas sale of the tacoma, but honestly after looking at them I don't think so.

I had a 94 Silverado and Loved it. 99 Sierra Z71 and loved it. 2001 S-10 and it was just Okay.

That said, the current state of GM Quality Control is almost as bad as Chrysler's ... and that's pretty fucking awful.

    Not interested.

I just traded mine in with 151k miles on it. they gave me 10k without even looking at it. could have gotten more if I sold it on my own but didnt wanna hassle with it, when they said 10k I said surre. now I have a 2014 and lovin it just as much, but seriously hopefully the Colorado will give the tacoma some competition. maybe then I wont have to rush and buy a tail gate lock as they may put em on from the factory.

Personally I don't think they will put a dent in Tacoma sales. The Tacoma fills a niche different from say a Colorado buyer. No matter how much lipstick they put on that pig, it will still be a medeocre Chevy at the end of the day.

Re sale value will not be a strong attribute of this model, simply because it is a Chevy.

I'd like to see & drive one, but it's a risk to buy anything from GM in the first couple of years of production.

    Lol^

I'd test drive one to see how it feels. The only thing that worries me about the Tacoma is this MPG war that the big 3 are in and I have heard nothing from Toyota about how they plan to compete. Even if Tacoma doesn't get the best MPG anymore I don't think sales would suffer... Anyone who's driven one should have a hard time turning away :)

The only time I was slightly jealous if the Colorado / Canyon product, was they added the V8 option (for what I believe was the last year of production) or something like that. Was really hoping Toyota would have added the 4.7 V8 to the truck to counter that effort, but they didn't.

    Still dream of a 4.7 (manual ) X-Runner or V8 TRD-Off Road.

you dont want the 4.7... thats old slow and doesnt make any more power than the dual vvti 1GR-FE 4.0 v6.

if they were to put a V8 in the taco they should take the one out of the tundra. 4.6L v8 1UR-FE (304hp 324tq) or better yet the 1UR-FSE ( 385hp 369tq)

but really id take the 2GR-FSE 3.5L v6 in the taco 305hp and 278tq and be happy!

yeah back when my moms 99 suburban started having issues which we fixed we decided to get rid of it (back in 2007), Drove it to the same chevy dealer we bought it at and asked about the trade in value on it. They stated nope we dont accept trade ins of american made vehicles with over 100k miles on them.

I just want Toyota to blow everybody out of the water (cough Chrysler/Dodge cough) and bring out a 30 MPG highway (V6 or stronger) Tacoma. Sorry, I know that's probably been being said for years. It's just been so long since they've changed anything.

And thats because its a great truck.... everyone is trying to play catchup, ford even up and quit the midsized truck market.

Theres a reason out of every pickup truck i see here in my area in so cal, at least 1/3rd are tacoma's

You are correct there. Even here in SE Texas there are many Tacomas. I don't want to sound like I think anything is wrong with the Tacoma-It's not. Just saying, but maybe now times are getting to where they need to step it up?

But being that the Tacoma has not changed in 10 years and other mid sized trucks are just now picking up, I'm curious of the giant gap that was left when they first came out in 2004. (I am assuming that is when the 05 models came out, possibly actual 2005) I wasn't the Tacoma/Truck enthusiast I am now nor was I old enough to know anything :p I bet the margin was pretty big.

And as for Ford quitting the market, if it weren't for the Tacoma I don't believe there would be much reason to buy a mid-size truck. The reasons are shrinking with the newer ones getting better MPG. The only incentive that leaves is price difference. If I weren't a Tacoma fiend my next truck would be a full size.

At the end of the day, even if the Chevy turns out to be junk, competition is always good for the end consumer. I hope Chevy sells a bunch of these so that Toyota picks up its game in a few key areas. Resting on one's laurels only last for so long.

Why is the Colorado being spoken of (I am reading reviews) as a full size? I read that it is 4300 lbs... My Tacoma is 5350 lbs??
