Your Tacoma doesn't weigh 5,350lbs, that's your "gvw", which includes a full payload. Most Taco's are 4,100lbs or less.....

I didn't see that. In what aspect? The only thing comparable to a Tundra is a damn whale... Or a pug, if we're talking appearances :D

Really? Where can I find the weight? I got 5350 from the door frame

nope, no interest in test driving one. I sat in one at an auto show and wasn't really impressed by the in-person looks or the interior. I do hope that it inspires a diesel Tacoma, though, as in 4-6 years I might be tempted by a new one. 30mph highway would be awfully appealing.

    The better coast
I forgot where I read it but it said the new ones are like 90% the size of a full sized truck.:confused:

The is probably why I like 1st gen tacomas better than their plastic younger brother :D

meh - The one thing I'll say is that I hope this spurs toyota to update the tacoma a bit - I would as a consumer at least liek the OPTION of adding some luxury, things like a sunroof, leather interior, power seats, etc - I Realize that's not everyone's idea of a tacoma but in todays day and age some of the decisions toyota has continued to make about what to allow and not allow on this truck is silly... I mean I spent 40k for a tacoma (and I love it, don't get it wrong) but I honestly feel for that price it should have had some additional things like oh gee... a trip computer.

Someone above said it right - if nothing else, even though I won't entertain buying one because it's a chevy, competition is good for the market and consumers generally are the beneficiaries.

I think we can all admit toyota has enjoyed dominance in this market for a very long time and has grown complacent.

As for power, I fixed that, put a SC on it and have been perfectly happy with power...

My weight is on my title. My V6 4X4 Access Cab weighs 4,021 lbs, so your dbl cab 2WD should be close to that...

The 2015 Colorado looks pretty nice. I want to test drive one with the Duramax diesel.

I only hope it does OK so it lights a fire under the engineers at Toyota to get a better truck....adding a small diesel option, for instance, and stop making the fucking thing bigger and bigger. Lots of us would want a Taco that's NOT 90% of an F150 size!

Right? I managed to get 27.5 MPG highway in mine in one highway trip (just ten miles though) last week. Granted once I lift it and get bigger tires that may not be the case but still! If they came out with a 30 MPG hwy (I have read that 30 MPG hwy is what Ford, Chevy, and Dodge and racing to, and I can't believe Ram came out EPA 28) I'm positive I could get 35 out of it!

    :amen:

    I'll look

I do like the looks of it. Couldn't betray a Taco and switch sides of course but my main interest in the Tacoma is that it's so pretty. The new Colorados look nice and tough- I wouldn't say pretty. But I like it.

I agree that things shouldn't just get bigger and bigger BUT... I must say I would love the option of buying a bigger Tacoma because a likely reason I will one day part with Toyota is when I start a family I will simply need more cab space. A few TW dads have sold because of that.

Strong this. I will take it to it's limits and then hand it back :)

I owned a Dakota once...tranny went out early on....I bought a used Silverado and the CEL was on less than 24hrs...that went right back....neighbor had a mid life crisis, traded in his modded Taco for a new Silverado...traded it back for an FJ....took a big hit as the resale value is horrible.

I do, however, miss my old 97 Camaro Z28...solid car...other than having to wire a manual fan switch to keep the engine cool, it was solid...sold it for more than I bought it for.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
I'll try one out just to see what the 2.8L Diesel engine is like. Wouldn't buy one though.
I got a 2004 colorado new in 2004 and it looked great but was the most unreliable truck I've ever owned. After 18000 miles, a few computers, new suspension, new steering rack, and some other work (all under warranty), I traded it for a tacoma.

I wont, but my dad will. He's been looking forward to it coming out. He's hardcore "American" and won't buy a Tacoma. I've tried.

I'll be curious to see what they are like.

He's been driving his, I think its a 2004, and beats on it pretty good. With no major issues, other than some issues with the ABS system.

Traded my 00 silverado for the tacoma -a 13 prerunnerDC - loved the chevy and had no problems at all- drove it 13 years and 150k miles - funny the tacoma gets only 1 mpg better than the 5.3 v-8...... Love the tacoma but the Colorado looks good- saw it at an auto show...... I hope it gets toyota to pick it up a bit and add some features and clean it up a bit ---- love the look and power of the toyota but there are some annoying issues with it..... But no way I'd ever get a Chevy (or any make ) in the first few years of production, even a toyota and yes, GM has some issues and I don't trust them at all, I'm Not in the market right now but I will test it out - why not?.?... But the tacoma is here with me to stay for awhile --- it's a solid truck with a great re-sale. I'm actually considering a 15 tacoma because the 13 is worth almost what I paid for it so why not?????

This has bugged me for ages. Its been a long time since anything Toyota was made overseas and shipped here complete.

FFS. Our Tacos are american made, with mostly american parts, by american workers. That argument is just absurd.

Not to thread-Jack this Chevy thread (can you tell how much I love Chevy) anyway the new Frontier got leaked here.....

    http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2014/06/leaked-photos-preview-next-nissan-frontier.html

The speculation in the article says the truck is the new Navara and not th Frontier, however the current Frontier and the old Navara are identical save for some very minor details. You can bet the new Navara and the next Frontier will look very, very similar.

Believe me, I've tried to tell him. It's just in his head that, that anything other than the "American" brands, its not American. He's gonna be 70 years old and is hard headed.

What's funny is about 20 years ago or so, he had a Nissan pickup and liked it. But that old school guy in him influenced him to not keep it very long.

Oh well. What you gonna do... It's his money.

Why don't those numbers add up to 100%?

I guess there is still the fact that the company is not American?
