Yes. I had it on about a year and looked fine when I pulled it off. The thicker you put it on, the easier it comes off. Pulled the wheel off the truck, but left the tire on.

I have plastidipped mine and love it! Super easy. I have my tires still on when i did mine, you can put on a layer of tire shine on JUST the tire and the plastidip will slide right off your tire when everything has dried. Ive had mine on for around 18 months and has held up great and only peel was because the weights were removed when i had new tires put on, and i had to redo a section.

6 coats on my wifes car almost 4 months ago and when theyre clean the look like i just did it[IMG] took them off one side at a time and used cards to keep it off the tires, and removed them right after the last coat[IMG]

I did mine a couple weeks ago, and my Xterra before that. Lasted a few years without problems.

I'm not a big fan the index cards or the tire shine. I'd be afraid that some tire shine would get on the rim and could cause problems the plasti-dip. If you had some tire shine on there then washed the wheels, that would be okay. As others have said on other plasti-dip threads, put on several coats and it will peel easier. Any leftovers will come off with an old microfiber towel and some light rubbing.

    And obviously, do it off the car. Not a big fan of painted lugs...looks lazy;

    Some stuff...
    Guilty as charged.

Just short of a year now & still looking good. Rims have been wheelin, muddin, snow, sleet, ice, heat, power-washed, car-washed with rim scrubber, etc.

Yes, and didn't use playing cards between the tire and rim - Sprayed the rim and peeled the excess dip from the tire.

Correct, peel the large thick parts closes to the wheel then rub the thinner bits further away from the rim.

With the index cards, i couldn't see how you'd get the product all the way into the lip of the rim, I'm probably wrong about that.

And there is video out there with the dip your car guy pressure washing a dipped car at very close range and the dip holds up to that. I think it gets more durable ever the first few weeks.

Skip to 2:15 and look how close he gets with the pressure washer. Seems pretty durable for something that comes out of a rattle can.

U can tuck the cards in pretty far (enough theyll stay up by themselves anyway) and i just sprayed at an angle in which i cover all the lip or all that can be seen anyway. There may be some of the lip between the lip and tire that doesnt ger coated i guess but its hanging in there pretty strong.

Nothing much. I haven't been bitten by the mod bug. A little plasti dip. And a set of Wet Okole seat covers with gun pouch.

    i've plastidipped my emblems.
My rims already came machined black, I personally would not do it just because rock chips and make a little bad rub will cause it come off. I know that the more coats you do the easier it will be for it to come off when it comes down to remove it, but this can also be a CON because unlike real paint it makes it easier to come off.

But hey why not, ive never done it nor plan on doing but why not :))

    Oh, Lord.

The thicker you put it on, the more resilient it is to chipping/scrapes. The chipping/scraping happens when something comes in contact with the dipped surface, and pushes hard enough, for long enough, to make contact with the metal surface underneath the dip... smashes the dip in hard enough to scrape it off. If something hits thicker dip, it is more likely to just bounce off. Now, no amount of dip is going to save you from scraping your rim against an immovable object that is abrasive, but things that normally fly up off of the road are another story altogether... because of The Laws of Physics.

They say that the thicker stuff comes off easily because when you use your grabbers and forcefully Peel it off, if comes off as one mass, instead of breaking apart at the thin spots and tearing. Again, though... this is when you work your little fingers into the edges of the rim and purposely try to remove it. It comes off nice and clean this way... if you do it right.

I've dipped many sets of rims over the past few years and spent the same amount of time driving my own trucks on and off road with dipped wheels.
