I finally put together a little video of my trip to the Grand Canyon. I just used the gopro editing software and one of their templates so its nothing special or all that great but still entertaining to watch. Enjoy

All of the videos were taken on my and my girlfriends GoPro cameras

Maybe, I need to have somebody who is somewhat decent at putting videos together help me. Ill be getting more footage from one of the other people that went soon too. I have around an hour of good footage (little boring stuff) right now so I have a lot to work with.

Well, I'd say the bit you had was interesting and good too. I suck at putting together videos myself. I shoot for 2-3 minutes.

WOW!!! So sketchy going down the canyon in a yak. I did a 8 day trip 20+ years ago on one of those huge rafts. That was crazy enough going through some of the knarliest rapids. Very cool. Thanks for the post.

I see people with them all the time where I hike every weekend. They are pretty neat. Not going to let a kid keep me inside if I can help it

I just wrapped up a 4 day trip this last weekend and realized that I come home with a half full cooler after most trips....I just don't take the time to eat/cook when I'm camping. Too much hassle in cooking and clean up really. Plus I'm usually on the move from sun up until sun down taking pics and stopping to cook isn't always my priority. So help me out Taco people...give me some easy camp meal ideas.
I have a MSR stove and a coleman stove and a backpacking pot/pan set so I have options for the actual cooking portion of the task.
I hate clean up! Being in bear country I try to keep a clean camp at all times. I prefer to cook in tin foil and not pots/pans since that means washing dishes and then what do you do with the dish water...?!!?!
I usually make sure I have lots of "snacks" on hand - granola bars, nuts, fruit and veggies - that I can just eat on the run so to speak but I'm lacking in actual "meals"

    Suggestions?

hows everyone doing!? Haven't been on in a while because I have been so busy lately but I have done a few backpacking trips around the Red River Gorge. I finally decided to bite the bullet and make the switch from my 9 year old Kelty Tioga external frame pack to a newer internal frame. Haven't been able to test it yet but am headed down to the Gorge next week where I will be able to test it then

I like that color. I also like external pockets. They add to the weight but they're convenient. How much does it weigh? 80L is pretty big. Do you fill it, long trips, kids?

    MTgirl,

Clean up can be again in the ass. Are you camping out of your truck, back packing?

truck camping - I just tend to buy backpacking type camping implements since the cargo room in a 1st gen isn't exactly spacious.

Too poor to list anything interesting.

Last time I went camping/offroading, I heated some tamales on the engine. Worked out great. I was able to make about 6, and it took about 3 hours.

Unfortunately, I was limited to just foil and wire. But I may try to find a way to put a basket in there. Problem is that the 2nd gen engines don't have a lot of heating area for cooking.

    Fair enough.

That being the case you may want to consider a big ass breakfast with lots of protein, carbs and good fats supplemented by protein/energy bars throughout the day. Sure, you still have to clean up from B-Fast but that is only 1 meal.
