    Thursday thru Sunday, October 23-26th!

    We will be camping in the historic Dragoon Mountains 15 miles northeast of Tombstone, at the former townsite of Gordon Camp, a mining town from the late 1800s. Sitting at a lofty 6000 feet, temps should be very nice!

    Pending a pre-trip road inspection run, the road to the campsite **should** be prerunner, even 5 lug friendly (was last year). I'll verify this way ahead of time though.

    Middlemarch Rd (between Tombstone and the Mts) is graded dirt road the whole way, so you prerunner guys should have fun on this stretch. After the turnoff onto Gordon Tank Rd, the last 2-3 miles is pretty easy, just a little rocky. We got a mildly lifted 5 lug up there last year.

    And, for the 4WD guys, there are multiple rough mining trails to do some wheeling on!

    There are also numerous abandoned silver, copper and gold mines in this area. So, if you've never been in a mine, and have a taste for danger, bring some good headlamps and/or flashlights and I will be your underground tour guide!

    ***DIRECTIONS***

    Phoenix guys will take I-10 south thru Tucson to the town Benson, exiting the freeway onto the Hwy 80 turnoff south to Tombstone. Head south on 80 for about 20 or so miles. After passing the Hwy 82 junction (to Huachuca City)continue straight on 80. A mile or so after the 82 junction, look for this left-hand turnoff at Middlemarch Road (it will be marked with signage):

    Follow Middlemarch for 15 or so miles, till you get to the Gordon Tank Road Turnoff, left turn (North):

    Follow Gordon Tank Rd North as it climbs into the Mts. Around 2 miles, the road passes through a long deep trench cut into a rock face on the west slopes of the dragoons. Camp is 50-100 yards past this on the left hand side. Look for a large clearing with concrete foundations. Or, if you're showing up after early friday evening, look for a massive bonfire with multiple Tacomas :D

    Here's coords for camp. There's plenty of room for 15+ trucks at this spot. An adjoining campsite 20 yards to the north can also be used if need be.
