Thanks Brandon! It's going to be later on this summer. The suspension rebuild will be the next upgrade to happen.

 

What you doing?

 

New UCA's, LCA's, hubs, coils, spindles, cv's... Total front end rebuild.
The rear is getting new springs & shackles too.

At 158K she's due for an upgrade. Besides, I achieved my goal of successfully wheeling a true 35" tire on a truck with only a 5100 lift.

It's time to step it up a bit. TC UCA's and Fox RR coil overs off the front. Dakar pack and jeep XJ shackles in the rear.

 

Why XJ shackle kit and not another brand like say ATO? Just curious, going through a lot of shackle flip threads and would like opinions!

I've got one of the original ATO shackle flip kits made by Kevin - the guy who started ATO. He sold ATO to Adam at 4xinnovations and the current kit they sell is very different.

The XJ shackles are a "banana" shackle, meaning they have a bend to them. There's a former TW member that has the same kit I do that is running this shackle with a Dakar leaf pack. I'm just copying his setup.

 

Are those shackles going to be replacing the ATO flip kit?

 

No they are replacing the stock Toyota shackles I'm currently using with the flip kit.
The XJ shackles will allow me to swap out the stock leaf pack w/ the AAL for a Dakar pack.

No, his are 36x12.5x16.

 

how the hell you going to modify your bushwackers to cover those 13.5s?

 

truth is that the interco tire tread width is only 11" on these.

We measured Ant's tires and even though they say 12.5 the are under 12 in width at the sidewalls

they are like an overgrown 255 pizza cutter.

I'm clearing the Nitto M/T now with minimal rub and no caster adjustment.

After the front end rebuild I'll have the ability to get things aligned properly.
This combined with the BL should allow me to run 36". (In theory)

 

Schmexy ass meats right there. Always wanted to run those. Back then at least.....

 

Still not 100% on them. I'm certain the 4.56's can move them just fine and I think the slightly larger diameter will be a benefit to the hwy RPM's.

I threw it in with my last grill batch when it went to powder coat.
Much better than a rattle can especially for where it's going.

 

I know somebody is getting excited about this transformation.
